“Elegant and quiet modern luxury...”

Even though my boyfriend and I live in the greater Boston area, we wanted to celebrate his birthday in style in the city. I always try to choose boutique hotels as they have greater personality than the average hotel, and the Inn delivered. The location can't be beaten, nestled on a quiet street in Back Bay and a short walk to all of the South End restaurants. The room was beautiful and stylish, obviously designed by someone with a good eye for quality and character, satisfying my boyfriend's modern taste and my desire for something slightly eclectic and funky.

The only flaws I found were that the fridge in our suite's kitchen hummed quite loudly all night, and the bed seemed to have been frequented more often by single guests, so that there was a noticeable dip in the middle that made each of us feel we were on a slant (somewhat trivial, I realize). We didn't partake in the breakfast offered in the lounge because there wasn't much on hand aside from coffee and bagels, but we had a delicious breakfast a short distance away on Newbury Street.

Overall, it would be silly to pass on an opportunity to stay in this place. Given the cost of other hotels in the Back Bay area, and the personal feel the Inn offers, adults visiting for business or pleasure would be equally content, I believe.

My husband and I came to visit my daughter and her husband for the holidays and what an experience. This hands down was the nicest inn we have ever stayed at. The rooms are beautiful. Modern yet cozy and warm. The staff is wonderful and accommodating, the inn is clean and supremely kept, the business center and fitness rooms are well equipt. Do not pass up this hidden gem. Did I mention that it is in the heart of the city?! It's well placed in the South End, away from Hotel Row, but it is one block from the main shopping mall in Boston. Again, wow..Really...Wow.

It looks like this boutique hotel was converted from a Brownstone on a residential street one block from the Prudential building. The setup is really great; there's no front desk per-se; you are given pass-codes for the front door and your room a couple of days beforehand, so you can come and go without dealing with anyone if you wish. There is an office downstairs and there's someone there that can help you out if necessary. The staff was very nice and attentive. Our room was a great size; similar to a studio apartment with a full kitchen. We had the smallest size room so I can only imagine the size of the larger rooms. It was a great location with plenty of shopping, eating, subway, and taxi access very nearby.

The Inn at St. Botolph is a home away from home, with all the luxuries included. The rooms are well appointed and you'll have everything you need. I like the suite where the bedroom is in it's own room and there is a living room and a small kitchen. Ask for the room with a chaise longue and you'll be able to fit another person in the room with you. In the morning the Inn serves a light breakfast where you can make yourself an expresso, eat fruit, cereal and fruit. You can also use your kitchen to make food. The Inn is centrally located so you can walk to anywhere in the back bay area or hop the T to wherever you want to go. There is no parking with the inn. If you take a car ask the manager where the best place to park is.

Toured the property and had dinner with the hotel manager and it was a delightful experience. I have been in the travel business since 1975 and have an eye on knowing what to look for in a hotel. My inspection exceeded my expectations! The hotel is spotless, well maintained and has a courteous and professional staff. Having dinner with the hotel manager was a bonus as he's an exception individual that believes in providing the best in customer service to his guests and willingly goes the extra mile. Overall I was quite pleased at how well this property operates and is managed. I have no qualms in recommending a stay at The Inn at St. Botolph

First of all let me say the the Inn is a very nice place. It is clean and the staff are very friendly. The rooms are very nice though there is a significant lack of storage space in the room my wife and I stayed in. Now for the but. Calling the Inn at St Botolph is a misrepresentation of the highest order. Nutri-grain bars, bagels, and a fancy espresso machine do not a B&B make. Not having enough coffee in the room does not help improve the situation either. Instant coffee really doesn't cut the mustard. the Inn is located in a great neighborhood and is very centrally located but it is not worth the rather hefty price tag that is associatted with it. Another complaint is the lack of attention to detail regarding the upkeep of the Inn. Again for the monies paid there should never be lights out in the common area, ever!. During my stay i counted no less then 15 lights out between the floor i stayed on 3 and the elevator, the first floor, and the ground floor. Just not acceptable for the price. The bedroom doors in my suite did not close prperly and were missing hardware. Again a lack of attention to detail. As they say the devil is in the details.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to submit a review for us. We are pleased that you enjoyed your overall stay and would love to take a moment to address some of your points.

In regards to our listing as a Bed and Breakfast, we quite agree with you. We have been trying to get our listing back to the hotel category since we were re-categorized over a year ago. We offer a new approach to hospitality and strive to make the unique concepts we implement as clear as possible on our website and exceed – not mislead – guest expectations. The Inn does not offer a hot breakfast like so many traditional B&B’s. Our establishment offers a complimentary continental breakfast including coffee, tea, espresso, toasted bagels, muffins, hot oatmeal, yogurt, juice and an assortment of breakfast bars. With a 24 hr grocery store right around the corner, we encourage guests to avail themselves of their in suite kitchenette which are fully furnished to make cooking and reheating a breeze and include coffee for guests wishing for their morning mug in bed. Complimentary car service between our affiliated restaurants Mistral and Mooo…. Is also available where we offer preferred pricing and special dinner and brunch packages.

Emergency lighting is present in the common areas including hallways and stairwells to facilitate safe entrance and exit in the case of a power loss. Although they match the esthetic of our regular lighting, these bulbs are only activated in the case of an emergency. Some of the additional common area lighting fixtures are activated by motion sensors as you walk down the hall; just one of the ways the Inn @ St. Botolph is using current technology to operate as Green as possible.

We appreciate and encourage guest feedback. We regularly review comment cards and online forums to be certain we are keeping a close eye to detail and finding ways to improve our overall hotel experience. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Sincerely,

Thomas DeSisto

We just returned from 4 nights at the Inn. We visit Boston twice a year for 3 or 4 days and generally stay at large traditional hotels such as Nine Zero or the Liberty, both very nice. We were looking for something different this time and we found it in the Inn. It is conceived more like an extended stay boutique apartment with a tasteful modern aesthetic I personally find appealing. If you are looking for the welcoming bellman and posh lobby, this is not the place. Instead, it offers seamless service, keyless entries and well stocked kitchenettes. You could visit and be left alone by staff, (which I like), however when you do interact, they are friendly, professional and courteous. They have it figured out with their instruction manual on "how to", anticipating typical traveler questions. If you are looking to not be bugged, good value, good design, nice people, and a great location, this is the place. The concept works...if they could only squeeze in a king bed! I highly recommend The Inn to the sophisticated stylish traveler.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your kind words! We so appreciate guests taking the time out of their busy schedules to share their thoughts with us and others. Your observations and experiences are exactly what we strive for - we couldn’t have said it better ourselves!

Our staff works very hard to make certain every guest receives the level of interaction they desire. Our keyless entry eliminates all the hassles associated with the check-in and check-out process at other hotels. Arriving here is as easy as arriving home, and everything from our décor to our services are meant to make anyone feel like that’s exactly where they are. I am proud to be part of a team that truly cares about each and every guest and we are committed to continually raising our level of excellence.

We also understand that sometimes all a guest needs is to be left in peace, which is why we endeavor to anticipate every possible need before you arrive. Our in-room directory provides a wealth of useful information. Guests can relax knowing that not only is their suite equipped everything they might want, but that our staff is waiting patiently in the wings until they are needed.

We invite everyone who has not yet visited the Inn @ St. Botolph to come and experience a truly unique approach to hospitality. Oh, and about that king sized bed? That idea has possibilities....stay tuned!

Thank you!
