My teenage daughter and I stayed here for a couple of days this Summer during a spontaneous road trip from NYC to Boston. Although it is conveniently/centrally located only one short block from the Prudential Center and subway stop, it is on a quiet street. Our one-bedroom suite accommodation was spacious enough and very nicely furnished (gas f/p, lg flat screen TV, etc.). The fully equipped kitchen was a big plus - allowing us to warm up for breakfast the delicious leftovers from dinner out the night before! You don't get the large hotel services - which we didn't need; we preferred these accommodations since it was more akin to a condo and we felt more like natives and less like tourists!

The amenities are on a rather small scale, but sufficient. The lounge housed a large screen TV; complimentary beverages (really good coffee), cereals, cereal bars, bagels, cream cheese, etc. and a large mac computer with printer (i.e., "the business center"). The fitness center was also small (only a few pieces of equipment), but was sufficient so I could run a few miles on the treadmill. There are also complimentary bottles of ice cold spring water in its small refrigerator.

Since we made the reservations last minute (same day!), we got a significantly discounted rate (about $180/night). At this price, I would definitely recommend it since the comparable "conventional" hotel alternatives we found were > $250/night.

BTW, we love Boston!!!

The Inn at St. Botolph is a terrific hidden gem conveniently located in between Back Bay and the South End, and incredibly close to anything you'd want to see or do in Boston! The rooms are attractively designed and furnished, super clean, and the property is very user-friendly (access code, breakfast, lobby, business center, etc. all worked perfectly). Also, as compared to other hotels of similar quality and in similar locations within the city, the Inn is hands-down one of the best values in town. In fact, we liked the Inn at St. Botolph so much, we got engaged the night we stayed there!

The rooms are comfortably furnished and there are flat-screen TVs in living room and bedrooms with access to far more cable channels than most hotels provide. I stayed in the 2-bedroom, one bath flat. One bedroom was a large double; the second was a bit small, but fine for one adult or a couple of kids. There was good closet space, plenty of hangars and an iron and board. The bath I had was modern and there were lots of towels, though not enough bars to hang wet towels on. The neighborhood is safe, convenient to public transportation, and within walking distance of the MFA and Gardiner museums.

The Inn is located a short walk from the Back Bay Amtrak station and is convenient to a Whole Foods market, should you wish to cook in the well-equipped kitchen. The staff is well-informed and always helpful. Continental breakfast is free in the communal lounge.

I had the pleasure of staying in the inn while we were delivering our son to college in Boston. It was such a lovely place! It was impeccably clean and very stylish! The staff were quite helpful and the lounge welcomed us every morning with a lovely stock of breakfast items. The location is perfect... no car needed, which is great because parking is so expensive!! We already have our reservation here for October and I am thrilled to be staying here again! I have only one suggestion... more towel hooks to hang and reuse wet towels please! I want to be "green", but find it difficult to do so with so few towel hooks!! Otherwise, the perfect stay! Skeptical at first, we were surprised by and taken to another level of comfort during our stay at the Inn. Our suite roomy and furnished just like home - almost like it, just better! Trendy, but warm and welcome as we easily forgot that we were actually staying in an Inn in downtown Boston. St. Botolph's Inn gives the name "Inn" a new meaning.

As other reviewers have said, the hotel's location cannot be beat as it is within walking distance of most Boston sites and is in a great residential area. Our one bedroom suite was better set-up for a solo traveler than a couple as seating and moving around were a bit odd. The staff were very helpful but ran out of food for breakfast one of the days we were there. The keyless entry, etc. was a plus as far as we were concerned. Would probably go back again considering other options in the area. Fitness center and free computer/phone calls were a plus.

This place should NOT be considered a hotel by any standard. It is an INN and has even fewer of the amenities of a beach town b & b. The suite that I'm in has tiny rooms and doll house furniture. It is also on the fourth floor so there is next-to-no water pressure to the lovely rain forest shower head. The bathoom is also child-sized and the fancy rack to hold soaps is almost falling off the wall.

The minimal service policy does nothing to benefit the environment but I'm sure it helps the bottom line. If you want to spend $300-400/night and have a great travel experience, stay at the big sister of this place, XV Beacon. Much better location, service. And at least there's a feeling of safety rather than the 'down home' feeling offered here in this sometimes sketchy marginal neighborhood.

Dear Jjohnzi,

The Inn At St Botolph offers a unique approach to hospitality. We pride ourselves on providing an exceptional experience unlike any other hotel.

Our sister hotel, XV Beacon, is a four star property with which we are pleased to share a similar design, look and feel. While we realize that not everyone has the same taste in design and architecture, we are honored to have our interiors created by the same Hall of Fame Designer, Celeste Cooper.

Every suite is far more spacious than an ordinary hotel room. Each offers a sitting area, table for dining or work, and a kitchenette with a full size refrigerator. Our selection of custom designed furniture includes king or queen four poster beds, full length sofas, wing back chairs and original artwork. All units feature 42” HD TV’s and one and two bedroom suites boast a gas fireplace.

The Inn is centrally located near Copley Square, between Boston’s most desirable neighborhoods: the Back Bay and South End. Our location allows guests to reside in a historic brownstone on a quiet residential street one block from Boston’s finest dining, shopping and attractions.

Complimentary amenities include high tech features such as wireless and high speed internet, video intercom systems, national calling and extended satellite service. Guests enjoy our state of the art keyless entry system, fitness center, daily continental breakfast and preferred pricing at our acclaimed restaurants. Our all inclusive price and innovative reservation procedures eliminate the hassles of check-in and check-out and makes certain there are no surprises on your bill!

Our team works very hard to clarify how we are unique. Guests making online reservations can refer to our website for photographs, floor plans and policies.

Here at The Inn at St Botolph we respect your privacy and allow you the opportunity to elect your own level of interaction. Our goal is to achieve the perfect balance between privacy and service for every guest.

Best,

Tom DeSisto
