“A nice high tea”
Reviewed 19 June 2014

We may be a bit spoiled, as our ultimate high tea experience was at the Dorchester Hotel in London, with Wedgewood China and a few hundred years' experience behind them. That said, the Fairmont Battery Wharf did a very nice job!

When you arrive, there is a ten dollar charge for valet parking. Obnoxious, of course, but a reasonable part of doing business in downtown Boston (also a reason why many people do not do business in downtown Boston, but I digress). The seating is a bit awkward, as the children employed to do such are sweet but not entirely sure how to go about their tasks, but they do their best. Once seated, the views are nice and the seating comfortable. Upon being served, we were surprised and delighted to find that the teas, while limited in choice, were quite decent and the finger sandwiches and baked goods were first rate.

Ultimately, the Fairmount is a fine choice for a Bostonian (or visitor who is not likely to go to London) to experience high tea.

Hello,
Thank you for sharing your afternoon tea experience with us. I'm thrilled to hear that you found our tea service comparable to the elegant teas found across the pond. We appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you back soon.

Spent 5 nights here and was a good experience. The front desk was very helpful for making reservations and suggesting places to eat. Our room was on first floor which had a public walking area all around the hotel. We had to keep sheers drawn all the time because people could see in the room. Asked for higher floor but none available at our checkin time. Bathroom didn't have a shower/tub combo but a walk-in shower which I prefer. Also separate enclosed toilet area. Room service staff was excellent. We were able to have the hotel car take us to our dinner locations. Nice touch. We got free internet by joining the Fairmont Club rewards program. We also booked getting a summer special. All in all a good experience.

Room Tip: I would insist having a room on the ground floor. Our room was 3141 and we were on ground floor. I d...

This is one hotel that I wouldn't mind staying for a long business trip. The hotel is not over the top, but has a timeless charm to it. The staff from the front desk to the restaurant were all attentive and thoughtful. One of them even had a cab ready for me at 4:40a to wisk away to Logan for my flight home. Again, the room was simple, but exactly what I needed. Slept easily with very little outside noise. The hotel is right on the water and you get a front row seat at all of the water taxis coming in. Looking forward to my next trip to Boston and stay at the Fairmont Battery Wharf.

Regrettably, we did not stay here but only came for lunch. I had the best lobster roll in a week in Boston here. It was also great service and a beautiful location looking out over the harbour. We took the water taxi from the hotel to the airport and it offered great views and was a highlight of our trip.

Stayed here with a group of 10+ ladies for a weekend bachelorette party. The hotel can be reached via a $10 water taxi ride (water taxi docks are reached via airport shuttle route #66 no fee). The hotel is made up of a few lower rise buildings directly on the water. The lobby is dark and low ceilings so not grand but classic stylings and very clean. The hotel staff was helpful as we required a roll-away bed to be added and they also assisted us with adding the wifi to our cells. We had three rooms on the 2nd floor and all of the ladies commented how quiet it was and how great everyone slept both nights. The beds are super comfy and the bathrooms are large and very clean.

Spent 4 nights here and had a very nice experience. Great service, beautiful views, good food and great location. Been to Boston before but had not stayed in the North End. Would highly recommend this location. Very walkable to freedom trail, Charlestown and lots of good food and drinks. The only negative was the bathroom configuration in our room.. There was little privacy. However, the amenities and great view made up for it. Staff here was very accommodating and friendly. Would stay here again.

Room Tip: Skip the junior suite and ask for water view.

We chose the Battery Wharf location for our sightseeing trip to Boston, and were very pleased with the entire experience. The hotel is quiet, the views are terrific, and the staff was outstanding. Our hosts in the Gold building, David and Mike, went out of their way to make our stay easy and comfortable.
We found the waterfront area to be very relaxing, and very close to wonderful restaurants in the Little Italy section of Boston. The Freedom Trail is close by, as well as stops for the trolley and Duck tours. Walking to historic sites is easy. Just watching the boat activity from a bench on the dock is great! You can take the Water Taxi to points in town, or even to the airport.
Our room was large with lots of windows and the bathroom had a separate shower area. We enjoyed using the first floor lounge, and thought the selection of breakfast and snack items was first-rate. Nice wines served on an honor system in the afternoon/evening.
