“Quaint and charming brownstone house, convenient location, comfortable”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 November 2011

Stayed here with friends while attending a convention at Hynes. Chose it online for its convenient location (1 block away from Prudential Center, a convenience store and T station), listed amenities and relatively lower price than most hotels in neighborhood. It's actually not just 1 house but rather, a series of row brownstone townhouses with several rooms in the very quaint and charming Back Bay district. Simple amenities but comfortable enough, a bit dated, could use some refurbishing, certainly not new or 5 star class but clean and decent. Cellphone and Wi-fi signals were strong. Staff was courteous, friendly and very helpful, specially in bringing our luggage up and down the crickety wooden stairs. I'd say good value for money in this area!

Fantastic location.
However, bedroom was more like a student hall as it was rundown and had very dirty carpet.
Had a room close to main door which was quite noise.
They could defenitely refurb to offer the basic standards.

Great location for sight seeing in the Back Bay of Boston. The rooms are very simple so don't expect much even though the price is what close to what you might pay for a more posh hotel.

The rooms at this hotel are more like separate apartments so it is really good if you want a bit more privacy/independence. Our room (which I think was a medium suite) had a seating area, dining area, kitchen and massive bed. We were in the building on St Stephen's Street and we heard very little noise from the other rooms. The surrounding area was residential and really nice, quiet and felt safe. It was also near to shops (including the Prudential Centre) and two subway stations. Having looked around we found this hotel to be cheaper than a lot of others and, based on the quality of the room and the surrounding area, I think it is good value.

I stayed here (room 102) with a roommate while attending a conference.

Our room was clean (apart from the caulking around the bath tub, a minor issue for me) and well equipped. It's unusual to see wood floors in a hotel and that definitely added to the charm. It felt more like staying in a family home. The downside was that you can hear movement in the room above (chairs scraping, water running in the bathroom) but as I was up at around the same time as our upstairs neighbors anyway, it was not an issue. If you are sensitive to background noise or intend to sleep in, this may not be the place for you.

The bathroom was bigger than a typical hotel bathroom, Wi-Fi signal was excellent. I couldn't get a cell phone signal, maybe because our room was downstairs from the main floor (not basement level; we had 2 large living room windows). My roommate's cell phone worked just fine, though.

The location can't be beat - a 7 Eleven just down the street, around the corner from the metro, and one block from the mall at the Prudential Center.

The reception staff were helpful and friendly. I did call a few times before my arrival to try to secure a room in the 239 Newton St building and that seemed to work. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Room Tip: Call to request a room in the main building - other locations are several blocks away.

A group of friends -11- in total stayed at Copley House for 5 nights. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Rooms are very cosy, charming and clean, nothing fancy but really convenient, affordable and clean accommodation in central Boston. Highly recommended for a group of friends!!!!

We were staying in Boston for four nights and needed something central. The unit was a basement unit. The kitchen light never did work so it was always somewhat dark. The bed and bathroom were fine. It cost about $130 per night though they wanted to charge about $175. Apparently all accommodation in Boston is expensive. In any case we were not there to stay in a room and saw little of it. It was highly convenient.
