“Great location, great stay.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 October 2013

My family of 4 stayed at the St. Botolph St. location of Copley House last weekend and it was just great. We had everything we needed in the room, including a great deck, and we loved being so close to great playgrounds, shopping, and restaurants. It was a great value and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning.

Looking forward to having you and the family back again, Esther. This area of Boston really is great for families, as you mentioned, because of all the shopping, restaurants and playgrounds in the neighborhood. Hopefully you enjoyed the entire trip as much as you enjoyed your accommodations. I can promise the same level of friendly service next time you're here.

All the best,

Very helpful staff prior to our arrival as we needed to know whether to get taxi from airport or travel by public transport. Great location for shops and tourist trails. We were in the main block in West Newton St. didn't realise there was another block till we checked in. The only downside was the constant banging of doors throughout late evening, very annoying. Try using the tube back to the airport it was so easy and not far from the apartment and only cost 5 dollars (for 2 people) as opposed to 35 dollars by taxi - well worth the effort as tubes are clean and regular. Would use Copley again.

Room Tip: We loved the top floor in Copley House small but cosy and in the sun.

Hope you had a great time in Boston, Angela! Thanks for staying with us and taking the time to write this recommendation. I'm happy everything went so smoothly for you in terms of getting to and from the airport. As for your comment about the doors late at night, we're always gathering guest feedback to see where improvements can be made, and this is a prime example. We'll certainly look into ways to improve in this regard. Hope to see you again someday if you're back in Boston. All the best, Christian - General Manager

We stayed here last week for 4 nights. As the previous reviews suggest, this is not a typical chain hotel. It is a short term apartment rentals. Our taxi driver had no problems finding the office from the airport and got us their quickly. It is a nice, quiet residential neighborhood off one of the main streets in the Back Bay area. They were prompt and polite checking us in. We were located in another building and they provided a driver to take our bags and ourselves to our building. He was polite and carried our bags into the apartment for us.

We had a nice first floor apartment in the St. Stephens street location. This was another residential neighborhood and very cute, charming old town building. The street was very quiet and only one-two blocks from the major streets in the area. The neighborhood seems majority artsy/student populated and we had no problems walking around, even late at night. We loved getting the feeling of living there instead of typical hotel experience. We walked and/or took the subway our entire stay in Boston except to and from the airport. There is a T stop, several restaurants, pharmacy, and a grocery store only a block away from the hotel. Great location!

The apartment itself left something to be desired. The size was what was expected of a studio apartment. We had a queen size bed, sofa, table with 3 chairs, small but full kitchen, and bathroom. Naturally this is an old building and the apartment was old. But it looked like a fresh coat of paint in a very vibrant color. The furniture was also old and worn/damaged. The sofa looked very dingy and had burn holes in the arms. The dresser and table both had water marks and large dents in them. The bed was very uncomfortable. The mattress was hard and the bed horribly squeaked with every movement in it. But they did come in every day to fix the bed and replace towels.

The bathroom was very small but had all the necessities in it including an ample amount of toiletries and blow dryer. The blow dryer stopped working on the second day. I called the office and they promptly sent someone over to check it. When they could not work it either, they promptly returned with a new and replaced it. The shower/tub combo looked original; therefore, it was not in the best condition. The shower head pulled out the wall when turned on. The bottom of the tub was dingy and had black spots on it despite being cleaned. There were 4 full sets of towels replaced daily.

Overall, the price was worth it in comparison to nearby hotels charging over $100 more a night and I would stay here again if they make improvements/upgrade the insides and furniture of apartments.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 304 at the St. Stephens Street building. It is a main floor large studio. The area...

Nice apartment, good value and clean in great location. However, it WAS NOT ON WEST NEWTON STREET. Mine was a few minutes walk away, and perfect for where I wanted to be. However, I was unaware of this until I checked in - meant that all my preprinting of directions etc were incorrect, and had arranged to meet up with people in the wrong location - good to find out where you are going to be staying - all my correspondence mentioned West Newton st, and not where I was!

Room Tip: Find out where your apartment is! My apartment was 1st floor over street, quite noisy.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm really happy to hear you loved the value, location and apartment in general. Because we are apartment style, not every apartment is right on West Newton, though each apartment is in its direct vicinity. I am sorry for the miscommunication with that. In the future, we are always happy to help you with directions. Boston can be confusing at times because it's not laid out in a grid like many cities, so we can point you in the right direction or let you know where a good place to meet people is. Hope to see you again some day. All the best — Christian, General Manager

This is not so much a hotel, more a private apartment rental system, which suited us really well: our apartment was clean; superb location in Back Bay. It's difficult to write a review as it was really a private lodging, with no big hotel trappings or attractions, but it allowed us to do some self catering (no cooker) and was very close to Prudential T station, very useful. If you hate big hotels, go for this option

Good location but arrive early and be prepared to haggle your needs as rooms are allocated on a first come first served basis. Our accommodation was confirmed by email as Room 104 Building 239 on the ground floor as requested but on arrival were were given a semi basement room in building 171 a block and a half away. The staff are not very professional and the establishments (4 buildings) seem to be run by a man and a dog! We were offered alternative rooms the next day all were clean but even rougher around the edges. If you cannot do stairs or carry your luggage up stairs do not consider these apartments but try the Holiday Inn Express which has a free shuttle bus to the T subway station and airport.

It's a bit old (it's Boston!), but nice, just a block to Prudential T train, 2 blocks to Trader Joe and Whole Foods, if you want to store drinks, fruit, light breakfast, or even diner since the studio is full equiped with fridge, stove, silverware. It is reasonable price compare with other place around. I booked medium studio, when I came, they are full, so they upgraded me to large one, which is nice, except that it is on 4th floor, and they don't have elevator. They help us carried our luggage up, and down when we check out. The staff are super nice. We left late afternoon, and they let us checked out (left the key) early, but left the luggages at their place, until we came back in the afternoon (who want to drag the luggage around town, or wasting all day long at the bus station?). The only downside is Wifi. It is very weak (most of the time, the network can't see it, once in a while, when it does appeare, it is so weak to be able to connected). I think they don't have it in the building, but only in the office building (and our apt room is a block away). I hope they can fix this, when they do, it'll be a perfect place!

Thanks for the great review! Copley House is under new management as of this year, and we've seen vast improvements across the board so far, but the small kinks are still getting worked out. WiFi included. Next time you're in Boston, I'm confident you'll see we've improved even more and you'll have a 5-star stay. Other than that, it looks like everything was pretty much perfect. We're so lucky to have the convenient location that we do and it's great you found value in that. Looking forward to seeing you again someday. Take care — Christian, General Manager
