I was pleasantly surprised on arrival, the room was large and kept clean. It was sufficiently far enough away from the main road not to cause a nuisance at night and the staff were very helpful. Breakfast was buffet style so busy periods were hectic essentially if a coach party was in at the same time.
It is located some way out of town so the Andrew Subway station across the bridge came in very handy, it was relatively cheap for a weeks ticket.
I would recommend this hotel to the budget traveller and would stay there again.

Clean and comfortable bedroom with Free parking, free breakfast for la lot less than downtown hotel.

Subway / T is 10 minutes walk, area surrounding the hotel might not be the prettiest but it is SAFE, very close to shopping centres.

Not recommend this hotel if you visit boston less than 3 night.

I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough - this is the second time I've stayed there and had the most wonderful experience!! The staff is incredibly polite, helpful, efficient and friendly; it's located two blocks from a T station, a short hop to Downtown Boston, there are three great restaurant's nearby (Appleby's, Olive Garden and Bickfords) all reasonably priced, a shopping mall a block away with everything you could want, they serve a Continental Breakfast with everything you could want, they're wifi enabled... There was a microwave and fridge in the room and we definitely made use of that!! I'll certainly be happy to stay there again and know I'll be just as happily satisfied!!

Stayed here for 1 night in July. Rooms are small and run down. This hotel is located outside downtown Boston and is priced accordingly. It is located next to a bunch of stores and a couple restaurants (Applebees and Olive Garden) as well as a Target and Old Navy and other stores which are all in walking distance. We traveled from the South Station to hotel and back by taxi. It was too far removed to visit the downtown attractions in the time we had. Next time we will pay the extra $ to be closer to the city.

I stayed here for 6 nights while in Boston for the marathon in April 2009. THis is a peak time for hotels in Boston, so perhaps prices go up. But still, I think we paid $170 per night which for a hotel of this standard was very poor value.

The hotel is right next to a busy highway and unfortunately our room was the closest possible to the road. This meant a lot of noise, and interrupted sleep.`Not great preparation for the marathon.

The nicest thing about the hotel was the other guests, particularly those staying for the marathon. Nice camaraderie.

Breakfast was poor, but it often is in the USA. I love travelling to the States but hotel breakfasts are usually so mean and functional.

Location was poor too. It was about a 10 minute walk to the local subway. There is a local shopping/retail park with a supermarket, a couple of restaurants and some electronic goods shops. It's generally a rather run-down area. In retrospect we should have paid a bit more and got somewhere nicer in the city centre. That said, during marathon week these hotels go for $250-$300 a night. A good alternative would have been to go for a hotel at one of the extremes of the subway system i.e. gone right out of town. Probably a lot cheaper and more pleasant than this.

I wouldn't say don't stay at the HIE, but I would say don't stay for 6 nights! I reckon 2 is a good maximum.

Convenient to BCEC via access road, avoiding South Boston Mess. Shuttle charge instituted after reservation made, no exception made for fee, boss was pissed. This was the original deal maker on pricing versus others with BCEC parking costs. Hotel next to shopping center and two chain restaurants ,so no journeys into unfamiliar territory needed to eat or buy last minute supplies. Free HIE breakfast good, enough protein for low carb dieters, decent cup of coffee too, 24 hrs. Boss liked free cookies at night. Internet service dependable, cell phones (Verizon & AT&T) worked well there. Parking at a premium.

My parents and i stayed in this hotel for 3 days. We were in boston to do some college visits. The service here is great. All the staff is really nice and are always willing to help you in anyway they can. The complementary breakfast is pretty good, well pretty good for being a complementary breakfast that is. The "T" is about a 5-7 min walk for the hotel, and it's a safe walk. I absolutely recommend not renting a car and just using public transportation if your going to say in boston. The rooms are clean, but the bathroom is a little small. It's not the classiest hotel, but if your looking to stay in a safe, clean hotel for not to much cash, this is the place to stay.
