“Nice hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 November 2010

The hotel is situated close to the historic area, only a few steps away from the USS Constitution. We had a large, nice room with microwave and coffee maker. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was easy to get to the city center even on foot. Convenient public transportation to the BOS Airport.

Shabby, old dirty and expensive, No food on site except a few vending machines, little to no choice of food in the surrounding area, staff are friendly enough, room cleaning leaves a lot to be desired, free internet access, is about the only good point

The Constitution Inn is probably one of the best value for money lodging possibilities in very overpriced Boston, MA. What you get for half a price of usual mid-range hotels in this city is a spacious, rather clean room with tv, microwave, fridge and coffee maker. Even though there aren't many dinning possibilities in the area, the location is rather good - 5min walking to ferry which takes you downtown, 25min walking to the downtown. The Inn features a swimming pool and fitness area. To access the BOS airport take ferry and subway, or taxi (max 20USD).

I don't understand why people are so unhappy with this place. We stayed here for 3 nights. It was more than I expected for 100 a night. Rooms were cleaned daily, we had new soap, shampoo, and towels every day. The staff was pretty friendly. Parking isn't free, but it comes out to 6 dollars a day. Just be aware that the parking garage is about a block and a half away. (There is a spot to unload luggage in front of the hotel.)
The hotel is in the Navy Yard, which is fairly secluded from the rest of the city, but I liked that better because it was less hectic. A cab ride downtown can be from 9-15 bucks depending on where you are going. There is also a free shuttle that takes you from the Navy Yard to the subway station (North Station). There is also a ferry that takes you from the Navy Yard to the downtown area for less than 2 bucks.
I was very happy with everything and happy that I saved a ton of money staying here.

Got a pretty good rate for a hotel that is close to downtown in Boston. This place is a dump.

It's the YMCA. Along with a collection of dirty, outdated, worn out rooms, there is a residence for long term guests. The elevators and traffic go through the place all day and night.

We even had a 3am fire alarm to make the stay even more pleasant.

The photos are not at all what you get with the Constitution Inn. Beware. If you want to save a few bucks in Boston, stay a little outside the city. This place just isn't worth it.

Hockey_goon99-
Thank you for providing valuable feedback about your recent stay at the Constitution Inn. We strive to make our guests have a positive experience when they visit Boston. To address your cleanliness issues we have a new management team at our hotel that is dedicated to making sure each guest room is clean and comfortable and we are continually trying to update our soft goods to keep a "fresh" appearance to our hotel rooms. We apologize about the fire alarm in the middle of the night; we know it's very disrupting to wake up to that noice in the middle of the night. Our security team is continually working to prevent that from happening again. We hope you will give the Constitution Inn another chance, we promise to make your stay more enjoyable. Please contact us directly if we could be of any help in the future, and thank you again for you feedback.

Regards,

General Manager

I Thought the hotel was very clean and the room was nice. The employees were very nice too. We only stayed one night but the price for what we got was very good, I would stay there again. The walk was a little far. but it was a nice day so it was fine.

It is not a real hotel but rather the YMCA
- Didn't get the room we reserved 30 days in advance
-Room was dirty
- Reception was rude
- Fire alarm by a bunch of drunk guests at 0300 was real nice, sort of teh iceing on teh cake.
- I would not allow my dog to stay there.
