Surprisingly good food, I have been to many similar places with overpriced barely edible food. Here it is fresh and delicious, and staff are very friendly. A real gem.

On a recent visit to Milkweed I tried the Shakshuka. The dish was flavorful and huge. Large meatballs, spicy pickled peppers, feta cheese, and yolky eggs were soaked in a chunky tomato sauce. Two large pieces of toasted challah bread soaked up the sauce nicely. Overall, Milkweed is a good choice for breakfast.

When my son lived on Fort Hill, nearby, we used to go to Chacos Tacos and Pizza on Tremont St. for slices. Now, directly across the street from Chacos sits Milkweed, a very hip, moderately priced, new restaurant in Roxbury. We had supper there last night (Sat.) on the early side. Since we were of only a few dining at that time, we pretty much had the place to ourselves. No TV's, no loud music, just good service and good food. The wait staff is young and friendly. The corner location, with large windows facing the street, is conducive to good street watching. There is a bar, booths, and banquettes plus table seating in front. However, none of the seating has cushions, so it was a bit uncomfortable after 45 mins. or so. So, I would suggest that they add seat cushions throughout. Otherwise this is a great new place for meals. They serve all day, breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. Apparently always very busy for weekend brunch.

Loved our first visit to this cosy restaurant. (Stopped in for dinner on our way the MFA - only a few blocks away.) Food was fresh, delicious, and interesting, and prices were totally reasonable. Do not be deterred by the relatively small menu - what they offer, they do really well! Friendly service, too. We will be back.

What a fantastic evening! Great fresh food, amazing service, and fabulous drinks! The Milkweed Mule is our favorite. Drinks and food are so affordable and everything tastes incredible. Will be back again.
