We stayed for 2 nights with Jon and Karen and enjoyed their floating B and B. They are kind and friendly hosts who cannot do enough to make you feel welcome. Jon met us when we arrived and helped us get our luggage down to the houseboat and Karen welcomed us after making sure that our room was ready ahead of check in time and they both made us feel like friends. They recommended places to eat in the neighbourhood and gave us advice on seeing the sights of Boston. The room was nicely decorated and clean and comfortable with little extras like snacks and bottles of water and juice to make you feel at home. Boston is a short subway ride away and since we came by car we were able to park at the station for $5 a day, which was reimbursed by Jon and Karen.
The nearness of the airport made for a bit of noise at night and early morning, although reading previous reviews perhaps we just had a day when it was particularly bad. If you are sensitive to noise then take your earplugs. The boat hardly moved the time we were there except for a gentle rocking when a large boat pulled into the marina. On the whole it was very steady and we hardly knew we were on the water. Just a word of warning though to those that are unstable on their feet, there are very large tides in this area and at times you are walking up a very steep ramp to get out of the marina so it is not suitable for the disabled.
A major drawcard for us, as we were on a driving holiday was that there is free parking at the marina. This is very hard to find in Boston and hotels will charge you to park in parking garages away from the hotel.
