“Unique B and B with exceptional hosts.”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

We stayed for 2 nights with Jon and Karen and enjoyed their floating B and B. They are kind and friendly hosts who cannot do enough to make you feel welcome. Jon met us when we arrived and helped us get our luggage down to the houseboat and Karen welcomed us after making sure that our room was ready ahead of check in time and they both made us feel like friends. They recommended places to eat in the neighbourhood and gave us advice on seeing the sights of Boston. The room was nicely decorated and clean and comfortable with little extras like snacks and bottles of water and juice to make you feel at home. Boston is a short subway ride away and since we came by car we were able to park at the station for $5 a day, which was reimbursed by Jon and Karen.
The nearness of the airport made for a bit of noise at night and early morning, although reading previous reviews perhaps we just had a day when it was particularly bad. If you are sensitive to noise then take your earplugs. The boat hardly moved the time we were there except for a gentle rocking when a large boat pulled into the marina. On the whole it was very steady and we hardly knew we were on the water. Just a word of warning though to those that are unstable on their feet, there are very large tides in this area and at times you are walking up a very steep ramp to get out of the marina so it is not suitable for the disabled.
A major drawcard for us, as we were on a driving holiday was that there is free parking at the marina. This is very hard to find in Boston and hotels will charge you to park in parking garages away from the hotel.

Room Tip: There are two sides to the houseboat and both are equally good.

We stayed a week with Karen and Jon, and it was great! They met us when we arrived and were so cordial. Breakfasts were hot and delivered...it was like having breakfast and bed. The boat's location is secluded and so relaxing. After a day of the hustle and bustle of seeing the sights, it was so relaxing to return to a tranquil atmosphere. Only a mile from the subway and 20 minutes from the airport, the Green Turtle is easy to access from everywhere in Boston. Thanks, Karen and Jon for an AWESOME week!

Surprised my wife for her birthday, we spent 2 nights and had an amazing time. The new location at the Atlantis Marina makes for great viewing of the sunset, city in the background, and the airport. Simply put it is a great way to kick back and relax after a busy day in the city. The owners are fantastic - John and Karen are welcoming, gracious, and accommodating hosts. We stayed in the Green Turtle I - Loggerhead Suite. The room was perfect. The city is a quick 4 stops on the subway and the taxi to the subway is paid for by the owners. We will be back again!

The room that we had was absolutely brilliant. The owners Karen and John were there to welcome us to our room when we arrived off an international flight at 10pm. That was very nice of them to do that. They seem to go out of their way to make your stay the best it can be.

Not the most convenient location for the city but they pay for your cab fare to the nearest train station (5 mins). Despite this the location on the water and for us being able to run through the down and into the reserve was a perfect start to the holiday.

Really comfy beds. Good shower. Nice touch to have all the snacks provided and some yogurts and milk in the fridge. Good coffee/tea selection.

Breakfast brought to you at a time convenient for you. We had little breakfast rolls with bacon and egg and some fried potatoes on the side and pancakes. Both were really nice.

For those who don't mind walking I'd totally recommend this place, an absolute gem.

We spent 3 nights here, as we visited Boston to attend our daughter's graduation from Emerson College. Jon and Karen are wonderful hosts, think of everything. I wish there was a higher rating than 5 stars, because they deserve it. Their new address is a little closer to the airport and a little further from downtown Boston, but not enough really to be an issue. The breakfasts were superb, the refrigerator is stocked with drinks & snacks, the bed was so comfortable that on the first morning, after breakfast we just went back to be and slept another 2 hours. I'm a piano tuner, therefor especially sensitive to noise, and I worried that being so close to the airport would be an issue. But usually we didn't get back until late and by that time the air traffic tapers off. The comfort of the bed and the gentle rocking of the boat put us right to sleep. A beautiful view of Boston across the water and the charm of the marina, especially at night, made an idyllic retreat. And I've never stayed in a place where the owner would give you a ride to the airport!

Room Tip: Just trust Jon and Karen --they'll take good care of you!

Found this interesting option for a recent trip to Boston for a wedding. What a fun and great alternative! Totally did not mind being outside of Boston. Proximity to city and to airport exceptional. Of course, a great B&B has fantastic hosts, and Karen and John were just that!. The subtle nuances of providing restaurant choices, service to the transit station and general knowledge of the area were very much appreciated. Karen and John have an enviable lifestyle, but their connection to people is what makes them that much more special. We'll be back!
