“Great Front desk staff!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2014

Great location and facility. Right next to subway station. Front desk staff was friendly and very helpful with directions and restaurant recommendations! Room was spacious and clean. Even offered my family an upgrade.

Very nice hotel, we wish the hotel had their own pool. You have to use the YMCA pool the hotel has a deal with them so their hotel guests are allowed to use their facilities. It felt awkward! Also, hotel is located across the street from Tuff's medical center we heard a lot of sirens. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are really clean!

Room Tip: The hotel is across from Tuff's Medical Center. We heard a lot of sirens, we were use to it tow...

The hotel was a great value for the price. The location was convenient to the Metro line. The hotel is across the street from Tufts Medical Center and you will hear ambulance sirens during the night. The rooms were very clean and well appointed. Our fellow travelers asked for a mini fridge at 10 pm one night and it was promptly delivered.

Stayed here during short layover in Boston. Very happy with location for all city highlights and the hotel is you would expect All within walking distance, Chinatown, Boston Tea Party Museum, Harbour, Faneui Hall and Freedom trail, Boston Common approx 10 mins. Bar is nice but breakfast is really expensive, better off buying it in Boston

I came to Boston for business a lot and had never stayed at the DoubleTree. The location was fabulous being able to access South Station easily. My meetings were within ten minutes of the hotel and the choice of local restaurants was tremendous. The room was a very good size and happily everything worked beautifully. I found the staff very accommodating and polite. I would recommend the breakfast buffet. I have a new Boston hotel.

The staff is very friendly and helpful but this hotel is in deparate need of an update everywhere. The elevators are old and vibrate as they move; the furnishings and decor came from the 80's or earlier; both in the hotel's lobby as well as the guest rooms.

So...it's been since 2011 since we stayed at a Double Tree property. We figured it was time to try the chain again.

We were attracted by the location & amenities. We had no plans to get a car, so ease of access by mass trans and by walking was vital. We also got a decent rate through a 3rd party vendor, which helped encourage us to try again.

*As an aside, our last experience was so bad, we never redeemed the certificate for a complimentary "please try us again" .

I'm glad we didn't get a car; parking is $46 a night. Compare that to $18 ×3 for a transit pass good for the week vs. 7x $46.

The room was comfortable: modern without being cold or sterile. The floor boards under the carpet, however, creaked and squeaked more than a haunted house during an episode of Scooby Doo.

At $20 a person, we weren't tempted to try the breakfast on site. Not when there were so many opportunities to explore the neighborhood near by.

We found a lot of great gastronomical delights within walking distance. And, of course, my son was delighted to see a Dunkin' Donuts on every corner.

The property does not have its own pool and exercise room. Instead, there is full access to the Y next door. There is also a convenient private access to the Y, which was nice.

Bonus: the transit line was adjacent to the hotel.
Minus: the homeless who were stationed outside of it.

Bonus: it's a quick walk to the Commons.
Minus: the route takes you by drug dealers, prostitutes, and an adult toy store.
