DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Boston - Downtown

The Doubletree Downtown Boston is a crisp, modern hotel with comfortable, though smaller rooms. Bathroom fixtures sported modern styling with a granite vanity; all very clean.
The Doubletree is a great, centrally-located place to stay if you intend to walk the city or use mass transit. The Tufts station for the MTA is less than a block away, and Boston Commons (the beginning of the Freedom Trail) is only a brisk 5 minute walk.
That said; be careful when booking. We used one of the national reservation services and specifically requested two rooms for 4 adults and 1 child. When we checked in, we were given two rooms on different floors each with a king bed. The hotel was sold out, and there were no rooms with two double beds available. We were also told that there were no rooms available that were large enough to accommodate a roll-away, so our teenage daughter was forced to sleep on the loveseat. When I inquired how the Doubletree normally accommodates children in a room, I was told they usually assume the child will sleep in the bed with the parents. (!)
One other caveat: the exercise facilities are next door in the adjacent YMCA through a dark, creepy corridor, and I was informed by the members of our party who used them, that the facilities were anything but plush.
Anyway, we did enjoy our stay (though my daughter may have a different opinion...)

The Doubletree Down town Boston was a perfect choice for our 1st time visit to the city. The hotel itself was amazing, rooms must have been newly renovated as they looked great! We ate breakfast in the restaurant and it was just right and the service was good. We didn't eat lunch or dinner as there are so many other restaurants within walking distance to try. Thanks again to Tony Franzone-GM and Staff they were great with recommending great sites to see and restaurants to eat at during our visit. I would recommend staying here as it is an ideal location to anywhere in the city and the employees are great!

Room Tip: We had a suite which had lots of room and Starbucks Coffee Kurig in the Morning!

The location of the DoubleTree in downtown Boston was perfect for commuting to Jamaica Plain to visit family, and to go to some of their favorite spots in the city. The rooms were quite nice and comfortable. I did not spend much time at the hotel, so I can't review other aspects of what it had to offer, but I was very pleased with the service that I received (both front desk and housekeeping staff) and the accommodations.

Perfect location. Spacious rooms and beautifully furnished. Super clean and comfortable. Staff were very helpful to sort out the parking situation. The restaurant serves delicious breakfast and the dining room is cozy and tastefully decorated.

Albion at front desk greeted us and processed all paperwork quickly. Guest Room was clean and ready for our arrival. Lobby lounge was very nice. Warm cookies and bottled water were a nice treat at check-in. Valet parking at $46.00 was a little pricey. Approx. 20 minute walk to Quincy Market and Aquarium .

Although it is a little off the beaten track and near the Tufts University Medical Center (same block), this hotel is only a few blocks from the Commons, near good restaurants, and is a pretty good deal. Some tours pick up at the hotel. Don't expect any good views--some rooms, like ours, face a courtyard and all you see is a brick wall. But, the rooms were typical Doubletree, modern rooms, very clean and comfortable, though ours what somewhat smaller than usual. Still, we had paid a little more to be on a high floor and away from the Medical Center side. We heard no noise or sirens and slept well. All Boston hotels are expensive at this time of year--so this was a good bargain for a few days of sightseeing.

For $225 you get what you expect from the room...clean and everything working. What was missing was hospitality. Bar the breakfast wait staff and one of the desk clerks the rest of the staff that we had contact with seemed to be going through the motions. It's odd that nobody in the hotel could give directions to family places within walking distance to the hotel, including the Aquarium, Children's Museum, Science Museum, or which T line to take to go to Cambridge or the Franklin park zoo. Strange because we saw families there. It didn't feel like the hotel was part of the city. It could have been anywhere. We spoke with a family on a duck boat that was staying at the Omni and they described a much nicer family experience with specific family packages including discounts tix and free tix to various family attractions. Next time it's the Omni for us.
