The Beacon Hill Hotel and Bistro were everything I'd hoped for on a three-day trip to Boston...good location for lots of sight-seeing, quiet, pretty retreat every evening, personal service (not many rooms, so the staff knows who you are) but not so intensely personal as that at a bed-and-breakfast. I was able to get to many places on foot from this hotel and public transportation is a short walk across Boston Common. The staff is knowledgeable and most willing to assist you in getting to know the area. Even when they were busy with the bistro end of the business (the check-in desk performs dual functions for hotel and bistro), I was never neglected.
The room I had was small but well-appointed and perfect for a single traveler. With two windows, there was plenty of light; so I never felt confined by the space. I'd definitely choose to stay here again.
If you expect a separate check-in desk and a hotel lobby, this is not the place for you. Also, if you need elevator assistance, be sure to mention that when making your reservation. Staying in certain rooms requires climbing stairs in this charming little inn.More
