“Would definitely go back.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 October 2009

We stayed at this "boutique" hotel on a recent visit one-night visit to Boston. The location is wonderful near many restaurants, stores, churches, markets and the hustle and bustle of crowds. I thought the room was somewhat pricey for the size but the place was immaculate and quite comfortable. The staff were polite and accessible. Our room was on the sixth floor and going up and down was somewhat slow. There appears to be a "scene" in the evening with a lot of energy for those who are interested. Parking in the area is quite terrible and driving requires loads of patience. All in all a very pleasing experience and I would definitely go back.

went to visit my daughter on college campus in Norton,Ma, booked Charlesmark Hotel last minute, wanted to spend evening time in centre of Boston, first considered booking a hostel as hotels are so expensive so when we found the the Charlesmark Hotel for $50 more then a hostel we weren't expecting much. location is perfect for exploring boston, the T is right outside the hotel, the lobby area is very small but functional and staff was very friendly and helpful, our room was on the 6 floor (queen room ) good size room, sofa, tv/dvd, music system, very comfortable bed, bathroom was beautifully tiled and had plenty of towels, it was a bit noise from a/c unit on roof outside but no loud enough to keep you awake
breakfast is a small area in lounge where you help yourself to drinks, bagels, spreads etc, enough to give you a start in the morning
hotel also has a small bar area
returning to Boston for Thankgiving, wish we could cancel hotel we've booked and change to Charlesmark Hotel

A comfortable hotel, in what seems to be a trendy area of Boston (Back Bay), just steps from subways, buses and Copley Square. Also very close to plenty of shopping and dining options. The room was clean and cozy, with simple, modern decor - great for one or two people. There was one double bed, a very nice bathroom (shower only, no tub, which was fine for me), and plenty of drawers/spaces to hold a long weekend's worth of clothes. I was pleasantly surprised to find that in addition to cable tv, there was satellite radio in the room. Oh, and free wireless internet - a big plus! The staff was very friendly and helpful. They also provided continental breakfast in the downstairs lounge. In the evening, this same bar/lounge turned into a pretty happenin' hotspot for the locals, and a nice place to have a drink and relax after a long day of walking around Boston. All in all, a great hotel for folks that like to keep it simple, because how much time are you going to really spend in the hotel anyway?

Great location, couldn't have asked for more!
Good value, in an expensive city this is a definite find.

Nice room, very clean.....but really dark at night, I'm all for mood lighting but lets's have the option of turning it up when you actually need to find something!

Didn't bother with breakfast so can't comment.

We booked two nights there and where very disappointed! The first room (#403) we where offered was small, dark and very noisy, as it was right above some ac fans! The second room (#603) was a bit better as it was on the 6th floor - but still noisy - no streetnoise - but ac or generator - right outside - it was like sitting in an submarine! Of course the location is very central, the staff is also helpfull - and the rooms are modern - but all that doesn't help! We also stayed at the Harborside Inn - a sisterhotel of the Charlesmark - and would recommend that hotel - it was quiet, large rooms, nice views of the harbor - and half the price of the Charlesmark!!!!

I stayed in this cute little place for only one night but would definitely go back. I chose it because of the price and proximity to my daughters place and it was a delight. The rooms are very small but well appointed, clean and quiet. It has windows you can actually open to enjoy the cool breeze! The location can't be beat for everything Boston. Close to a T stop, shopping and lots of interesting restaurants. I was a little worried about noise as it is over a restaurant/bar but I slept like a baby. The staff was pleasant and helpful if a little aloof and answered all my questions. The free breakfast was definitely continental - coffee, bagels and danish so we went somewhere else for something more filling. I plan on bringing my husband back next time to show him this place I've "discovered!"

Just had our second visit at the Charlesmark, this one a three-night stay after we were in Boston for the Paul McCartney concert. Got a really amazing deal on Travelocity -- $118 per night -- which was so cheap it was an offer we couldn't refuse. The Charlesmark did not disappoint. Rooms, although small, are clean and well-designed and the location is fantastic. Staff is helpful, and the bar is a great place to have a drink at the end of your night. Speaking of the bar, if you are someone who likes to go to bed before 2 a.m. on a weekend, *do not* let them put you in one of the two rooms on the first floor (106 and 107). I read someone else's TA review that the noise wasn't a problem. Well, we were in 107 and it was fine on Thursday night, but on Friday night the noise was outrageous. The hotel was good about moving us the next day to a quieter room. (Really, they should just charge less for these rooms and let folks know the bargain they're striking!) Other than that, absolutely no complaints. A great deal.

P.S. Go to JP Licks on Newbury Street for the best ice cream you've ever had.
