Reinhold (owner) was very communicative prior to our visit, offering assistance with regards to directions from the airport, check-in process, etc. which was greatly appreciated, especially since this was our first trip to Boston.

Encore is located in the historic south end in a charming converted townhouse. The residential street is tree-lined, and although close to busy Tremont St., surprisingly quiet. We took advantage of the mild weather during our stay, and walked to the historic center, and even the north end, but public transportation is close by and always an option.

We stayed in the Albee room, which is large and nicely appointed; plenty of room for luggage and lots of hangars in the closet. The mattress was too hard for our liking and the pillows were flat, but that’s a matter of personal preference. We opened the sliding door to the deck to let the nice weather in. The en-suite bathroom is very modern, with Aveda toiletries. It was disconcerting to find a pu**ic hair by the TP roll on our first day. It had me wondering what else we might find or how good the housekeeping staff was. Thank heavens that experience was not repeated and the room was always clean & neat when we returned after a full day of exploring.

The breakfast is not cooked to order but more continental style – pastries, cheeses, soft boiled eggs, yogurt with fruit and/or granola, etc. Just the right amount to start the day and very high quality. Reinhold gets the pastries from Flour, a neighborhood bakery, and everything we tried from there was to die for! (addicted to the lemon scones!). He also recommended several places to eat, and he was spot on.

Very well-run establishment and I would have no qualms about staying here again.

Room Tip: Albee room has a small deck. Great perk during nice weather.

Dear Scott and Barbara. Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience while staying in our B&B. We sincerely apologize that the cleaning of the bathroom was not to perfection on the first day of your visit, but are more then happy that the problem didn't repeat.

This B&B was lovely. It's in a leafy location from where we could walk to all areas (admittedly Harvard was a bit far but we should have spotted the map wasn't to scale!). Reinhold was very friendly and accommodating and the breakfasts were unusually good quality and healthy. Our room was spacious, clean, comfortable, imaginatively decorated and had a nice little balcony. Our stay in Boston would probably have been great wherever we were because the weather was so kind to us and it is such an interesting and beautiful city, but to get back each evening to Encore was a definite bonus.

Dear David and Joy. We are more then happy to get called "First class". We always try to make our guest's stay as comfortable as possible. A lot of credit for the quality of our breakfast needs to go to Flour Bakery, and we call ourselves lucky to have them in the neighborhood.

The Encore is an excellent choice for a quality bed & breakfast in a lovely residential area of Boston. We stayed for 7 nights in Mid October and really enjoyed our visit, the Bernstein room was comfortable and roomy.
The breakfasts were great with lots of choice including croissants and 'sticky buns' all served by our gracious host Reinhold.
The location of the Encore could not be better a 10 minute walk from the Prudential Center/Copley Square area of Boston with a choice of 'T' stops also nearby.
If you are thinking of booking this B & B don't hesitate as it is great.

Dear Jackie and Mathew. Thank you for your outstanding review and of course taking the time to write it. We are always pleased when guests write about the location in the Southend neighborhood, which is close to a lot of Boston sites. 35 restaurant choices in 5 - 10 minutes walking distance should be added to your list.
I was only allowed to switch bakeries, when I promised my partner, that I wouldn't have a "sticky bun" myself every morning.

Great location, whether you want to walk or get about on the T. Reinhold was a gracious host, serving up an excellent array of customized breakfast choices, and insightful conversation. The room was clean, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing. Wish we could have planned to stay longer!

Dear Jean. Thank you for taking the time to write a stellar review. Sometimes I embarassed to get all the credit. David is quite often in rehearsal for a show of his theater company - as he was during your visit - that's the reason I sometimes call him "the Phantom of the B&B. Our housekeeper for years does her job in the background and based on most reviews she does a good one.

I chose this based on its tripadvisor ratings and reviews and was not disappointed. The rooms were comfortable and spacious enough to relax in. The stairs up to the room were steep at the end of a long day out but the website does warn you of that. The highlight of the stay for us were the breakfasts. Great choice of cold food and beautifully prepared. Very sociable too as you all share a table. We were there for 3 breakfasts and had some very enjoyable conversations. Reinhold was an attentive and conscientious host. We also enjoyed the neighbourhood which was a safe one with lots of restaurants - our favourite was Metropolis. The city centre was walkable or there was a T train fairly near. We took the easy option of a taxi to/from the airport with no problems.

Room Tip: A room at the back may be a bit quieter but noise wasn't really an issue

Dear Jean and Glyn. Thank you so much for taking the time to write this wonderful review. We especially love the title. David apologizes that he hardly had a chance to meet you - he is currently in rehearsal for his upcoming production of Larry Kramers' The Normal Heart.
We call ourselves lucky to have Boston's best bakery (Flour) in the neighborhood, which allows us to serve excellent choices - so credit for breakfast also goes to them.

Encore was a fab place to stay from start to finish! We stayed for 3 nights and had such a great time.
We arrived a bit early on the Friday afternoon but David was happy to show us to our room so that we could drop off our bags before returning our rental car to the airport. We got public transport back which was easy. Breakfast every morning was lovely - Reinhold was a very attentive host. Lots of comments have been made about Encore's breakfasts here on TA - we could find no faults. We were able to choose as many items as we wanted and everything we had from Flour Bakery was lovely. We very much enjoyed sharing the table with two other couples as we could then swap information on places visited.
Encore was very clean and the housekeeping service provided was excellent.
It is located in a very nice area; quite diverse culturally and we were happy and felt safe to walk back at night from dinner. There is plenty of choice for places to eat and shop nearby. We had 2 1/2 days in Boston and were able to walk everywhere we wanted from Encore, which was great - the location couldn't have been better.
There was some traffic noise, but you have to expect that in a city the size of Boston; but it didn't disturb us.
One note of caution - if you ring up to book a taxi, after they take your name they hang up before you have a chance to tell them WHEN you want the taxi. I called back and was told that was fine but as we were leaving to go out for a walk the taxi arrived and we had to send it away with an explanation (the driver said he would sort it). Of course when we did go out at 2:00 the taxi never arrived so Reinhold very kindly phoned again for us. The fare to the airport was just under $21 (plus tip) which we thought was well worth it.
If we are ever lucky enough to return to Boston we will definitely be booking into Encore!

Dear Guests. For an innkeeper there can't be a better start into a sunday morning then reading such a glowing review. Thank you so much for your effort for writing about Encore. We are especially grateful that you elaborated on the breakfast.
Your comments on the taxi situation will for sure be helpful for future guests and we apologize not to have clued you in the best way to deal with taxi service. For all our future guests, please never call the them in advance; in our experience it's best to call cabs when needed - they usually announce a 10 minute wait, but sometimes it does take them only a minute or two. Also be warned that the fare to the airport seems reasonable - when you come from the airport, you are paying the tunnel fees and your fare might be up to $30.

4 nights in Boston, August 30-September 2, 2013. Reinhold was an excellent host. The rooms were comfortable and clean and nicely decorated with an original and contemporary flair. We actually stayed in 2 different rooms (our choice) and both were excellent. Breakfast was very good, filling, and nutritional; but not too heavy. The location is very convenient to very good local restaurants. It is an easy walk to a train station or trolley stop. Innkeepers Reinhold and David were accommodating and pleasant. Reservations were easy.

Dear Sally. Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review. I can assure you there is nothing nicer then waking up to 2 excellent reviews on this site on one day. PArt of the credit for our breakfast has to go to Flour Bakery, which we are happy to have in the neighborhood together with over 30 restaurant choices in 5-10 minutes walking distance.
