I was in Boston to propose to my girlfriend and needed a nice place to stay for the night after I surprised her. The hotel staff was extremely nice and friendly and even upgraded us to one of their suites after hearing my plans. I thought this was generous, especially considering I was using a discounted rate. The room was fantastic! The bathroom was pretty incredible too, with whirlpool, water closet, large separate shower, and his/hers sinks, it was an overall enjoyable experience.

We've stayed in many hotels in Boston but can't say enough about the Hotel Commonwealth. The staff and their focus on customer service is outstanding. The rooms are immaculate, the location is tremendous (loved seeing the Red Sox World Series banner from our room!!!!) and the restaurants are among the best in town. The front desk staff is so helpful and the quiet excellence of the property is the best!

I stayed at the Hotel Commonwealth after a concert at the House of Blues. The room was beautiful and the location couldn't have been better. What really makes the Hotel Commonwealth stand oout, however, is the friendliness of the staff.

We stay in Boston every year with our family of three teenagers and search for very nice but not wildly expensive hotels in great locations with enough space for the kids. We were very pleased with Hotel Commonwealth. The kids walked to shopping on Newberry Street while we walked to the MFA. It is very close to BU. Our children shared a large suite with King Bed and pull out couch in an area separated by a decorative curtain with its own TV -- very comfortable. The historic hotel is lovely. My only criticism is that the mattress on the bed seemed older and not as comfortable as the lower standard Westin we stayed in en route.... But otherwise, this is a beautifully furnished, classic hotel.

Room Tip: Go for the suite if you need space for several kids.

Staying in a hotel that makes you feel at home in a large city is Hotel Commonwealth's charm.
Staff is genuinely caring and the room's appointments were fun. Pictures of Boston history and books with Boston themes are a part of the ambience. Ate in their convenient restaurants downstairs, never had a bad meal. The T station is below the hotel, making it so convenient to get around the city.

Room Tip: Upgrade to the junior suite if available

A really nice hotel above the Kenmore subway stop and near Fenway Park.

I was able to get a good deal on the room and everything went smoothly except for wifi access. In my room I was unable to get the wifi to work with either of my two iOS devices. The devices worked fine in the lobby, but not in my room. This was a bit annoying, but I had an android device that did work, so it wasn't too bad. Usually this can be resolved by restarting a router, but I don't think they did anything even after I complained about it.

The Hotel Commonwealth is a boutique hotel in a lovely neighbourhood, about a block from Fenway Park, and in the Boston University area. it is a great place to stay, with large rooms that are stylishly decorated, an Oyster Bar and Restaurant that are on the top of the Trip Advisor list of places to eat in Boston, and a subway stop next door, making all of Boston easily accessible. There's a Starbucks in the building and a Barnes and Noble bookshop across the street. The hotel is quiet, even though it is on busy Commonwealth Avenue. The doormen greet you by name when you enter and exit, and the housekeeping staff is cheerful and pleasant.

Room Tip: Great views from executive suites facing Commonwealth Avenue.
