From the moment I arrived I felt a warm welcome. The customer service was stellar. Traveling with an elderly person, I appreciated the kind care extended to him. The room was large, lovely and comfortable.

We were there for the weekend for the Boston Marathon with our family. We loved the Hotel!! The staff went out of their way to make all the best and the Oyster Creek Restaurant was amazing as well. The hotel recommented the best restaurants for us and booked everything we needed. From the time you arrived to the time you left they did all for you. Great area to watch the marathon as well. Right outside our front door was mile 25. GREAT TIME

I stayed in Hotel Commonwealth for the Boston Marathon weekend, and I did not regret my choice! This hotel had everything I was looking for, as a runner and a woman travelling alone :
- Great location, at a walking distance from Boston Common and Hynes Convention Center.
- Safe neighbourhood, I was not afraid to take walks alone even in the evening.
- The staff was really friendly and helpful.
- The room was very cozy and quiet, and the bed was so confortable! The bathroom was nice and very clean.
- The restaurant (Eastern Standard) had a great menu, I could find dishes that fitted my runner's diet!

We stayed at the Hotel Commonwealth for Marathon Monday and everything about our trip was excellent. Staff was accomdatinf, valet parking was easy and reasonable, and the room offered a great view of the marathon and commonwealth ave. We also stayed last year for the same event and both times were equally pleasant and enjoyable.

My family of four, including two teenagers, stayed at the Hotel Commonwealth from Friday to Monday of the weekend of the Boston Marathon, which I ran. It is a lovely, small, independent hotel in a great, central location at Kenmore Square, right at the T stop there, so pretty easy to get anywhere. It is an easy walk to Fenway, which was visible from our hotel room. It is also perfectly situated for marathon-viewing as it is directly on the course, one mile from the finish line (and about a half mile from the expo/packet pick-up), and the large, pleasant lobby has huge picture windows overlooking the street and providing a great view of the runners for an who might want to take a break from standing along the street to watch. There are many restaurants nearby, including a Brueger's Bagels and excellent, casual local burger place -- UBurger -- across the street (both of which made our kids happy), as well as the two upscale restaurants connected with the hotel. If you want to run shorter distances than a marathon, the hotel provides helpful running maps and it is easy to get to and run along the lovely paths along the Charles River.

We had wonderful, friendly, attentive service from every single person associated with the hotel during our time there, from front desk staff to doormen. Jeff Ney, the assistant front of house manager, was especially helpful in getting us a last-minute reservation at the seafood restaurant connected to the hotel and generally took a special interest in making our stay pleasant. I would easily give the service 5 stars but for the hotel's refusal to provide a late check-out on Marathon Monday (not the fault of any one employee but apparently general policy) as noted below.

The tasteful room accommodated all four of us -- not huge but of decent size and perfectly fine for the limited amount of time we spent there. The beds were comfortable and clean with all white linens and plush comforter. A small inconvenience was the lack of coffee in the lobby or room, although there is a Starbucks a couple of doors down.

My only real complaint about the hotel is that it would not provide a late check-out on the day of the marathon, even for a surcharge. Because the marathon starts late in the morning (10:30, 11:00, and 11:30 starts for all but the elite), it is impossible to finish by the noon check-out time. Thus, in addition to walking back to the hotel from the finish, I had to walk another half mile or so to an athletic club (with which the hotel had an arrangement) in order to take a shower and change for our evening flight back to DC. Everyone else I knew who ran in the marathon was able to obtain a late check-out from their hotels, or the hotel provided a place to shower and change onsite. But, if you can stay in Boston through Monday night, the Hotel Commonwealth would be a perfect place to stay for Marathon weekend, and it would also be great for a trip to Boston for almost any other purpose (especially if the trip will include a Red Sox game).

Booked this room last minute on the eve of the Boston Marathon it was the last room available and the BEST room. It faced the Citgo sign and had a fantastic view down Comm Ave. the front Fest employees could not have been nicer and accommodating. The Hawthorn bar downstairs seems to be an unknown gem. (We didn't use the spa or gym so disregard the excellent I clicked them by accident and it won't let me change it)
