The staff are incredibly friendly, polite, helpful. The hotel is very attractive. The location is fantastic. Bed is comfortable. Bathroom is good. Room was quiet. I stayed here in October 2013 and thought it was perfect. I stayed here again in May 2014 and was disappointed in several things. As another reviewer says, they've placed tablets in the guest rooms for the room service menu and all hotel info. Great idea but our tablet had been removed "for servicing" before our arrival and was not replaced during our four days there. This meant no room service menu. We requested hard copy, and used that to place our order, but it turned out 30 minutes after the order was placed that they couldn't bring our food because it was the wrong menu. No tablet meant no information about the hotel or local area. Requests for items (such as a menu or hangers) were met with enthusiasm and then never filled. The carpet had bits of trash on it when I arrived. Daily requests to have it vacuumed were met with gracious smiles and yet no vacuuming ever occurred and the same stuff was on the carpet day after day. There is so much that's positive about this place that it feels bad to have to find fault, but these problems should not happen at this price point, or if they happen they should be immediately corrected. Every member of the staff was a great pleasure to interact with, but there is some kind of breakdown as far as follow through. Hopefully it's just a blip and they will get the details ironed out as I really want to be able to give them five stars.

For European standards this will be a 3* hotel max.
The lighting concept is ridiculous - there's none. To get a little light in the closet etc. you need to turn on each light seperately (and turn it off again, otherwise it would be lit all the time, also when you leave the room - no energy efficiency at all!).
No slippers available - with all the high rugs in the rooms a no-go to walk on the floor without them.
Fridge (without any value, because there's no real mini bar - it's empty) is way too loud. I plugged it out the very first night.
I needed to order to have shower gel etc. to be refilled - really necessary at a hotel in this price category??
TV sets (2 in a Junior Suite) had NO reasonable guide implemented - technically absolutely outdated.
In general: I hope that there are hotels in Boston which offer a better value!
An absolutely positive thing to mention are the beds - excellent!

Room Tip: I had a Junior suite. Nice if anybody really needs extra space for a second TV set without a noise c...

Don't get me wrong, this is a nice hotel and in a prime location however, $46 for parking seems a bit much. Also the TV must be so high tech, I can't e even figure out how to turn it on. Mind you I have a 6 no old 65 inch LCD at hone so why is this TV so complicated to turn on? The phone e doesn't seem to work either. I called the desk to find out if I just dial 9 for an outside line and he said dial 9 then 1 but that didn't work. They used to have a boo hotel book like most places do but in an effort to impress they switched to a tablet that seems rather slow and still didn't GI e basics like how to turn on the TV or dial out. Some of the posts say no fridge but they must not have opened the cabinet, its there. Its nice here...but I'm not so impressed. Watch the water in the shower too ice cold to scalding with very little in between.

We stayed here one night, and could not ask for a better location close to Fenway and the House of Blues. And the T station comes out at the front door almost, which was perfect for making our way back from the TD Garden after the Bruins/Habs.

Room was clean and comfortable, although we didn't have much of a view. We ordered dinner into our room as the restaurant downstairs was quite busy and we didn't have a lot of time before heading out to a concert. We were totally impressed speed of the delivery, and with the server who brought our food and his knowledge level of the dishes (we ordered the cheese and charcuterie plates). Loved that there were some fast food options close by (Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, etc).

I will keep this hotel on my list for places to seek out when we have the chance to get back to Boston.

Can't get a better location during baseball season! Great fun to sit outside on the lovely patio and watch the Sox fans streaming toward Fenway. Walking distance to the Fine Arts Museum and the Gardner Museum. We had the most wonderful time, and wouldn't stay anywhere else in Boston.

We went up to Boston to see the Red Sox vs the Cincinnati Reds game, and we stay at Hotel Commonwealth. Everything about the hotel was perfect! It is located in such a perfect area, we walked everywhere.... Newbury Street .... walked back from MIT.... Fenway .... Everyone from the second we checked in to the minute we checked out was very friendly, genuinely kind. We have previously stayed there a couple years ago and the stay was just as wonderful.

The Hotel Commonwealth remains one of my favorite hotels in the world. It is small and personal and a fantastic location. The staff are professional and attentive from the moment you get out of your taxi through the front desk and with the service staff. It's recent refresh is lovely and a little more contempory. And the restaurants, Eastern Standard and Island Creek Oyster can't be beat. The new bar is a quiet repreive. Location is excellent. A quick walk to Fenway and strolls along the Charles River. Easy walk to Boylston and Newbury Streets and to shopping along Boston Garden. The Hotel is above the Kenmore T Station - convenient to anywhere in the city. There's a new Starbuck's underneath as well, albeit crammed with BU students. The BU Barnes and Noble across the street is awesome. But i keep coming back because the staff is so great, it's all about the people!

Room Tip: Get a Junior Suite. The extra room space is nice for working and for relaxing. Specify if you want t...
