“Overnight Success”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 October 2012

With its convenient waterfront location, this Residence Inn provided easy access to Boston's North End with its wonderful Italian restaurants. After checking in, we crossed the adjacent bridge to stroll the narrow cobbled streets and see the historic sites along the Freedom Trail. We had an amazing family birthday dinner at Beneventos and returned to our spacious, clean and bright accommodations. Just around the corner from the water, our rooms were quiet and restful. For all the amenities this hotel offers and its friendly and helpful staff, it competes well with the costlier hotels downtown.

Room Tip: Water rooms cost more, but may be worth it. We weren't there for the view.

The room was good for the price and amenities also attended our needs. We forgot some Hersheys kisses chocolate that was my daughter's in the room at checkout and when we remembered, the room had already been cleaned. Nevertheless the lady at the reception created herself a small bag full of new Hershey's and other chocolates for my daughter. That was a very, very special touch that makes the difference. Breakfast was also good, with many options.

We stayed here for 2 nights as we had Marriott vouchers and this was the nearest to Boston centre available on the dates we were travelling. Really pleased we stayed here as the hotel was lovely, rooms were spacious and well equipped and the location was good - just off the Freedom Trail, a short walk over the bridge to the pubs/restaurants and attractions of the North End.
The staff were so friendly and helpful. On the day we were checking out we weren't picking up our hire car until mid-afternoon. I asked if there was somewhere safe to leave our cases for the morning and the lovely girl on reception asked if we would like a late check out (free) instead which was great.
The only small issue we had with the hotel was breakfast. They served a reasonable selection, but the area was very small for the number of guests and it became a bit of a battle to get food and a seat. Everything was also served in plastic plates with plastic cutlery which although I'm sure is very convenient did seem a bit out of line with the 'high-end' look, feel and price of the hotel. You could take your food back to your room, however we chose to sit outside one day away from the crowd, which although a bit cool was lovely to look out across the water.

When we booked we knew it was a little off the main strip. So happy we did this. And the staff could not be any friendlier and helpful. On arrival we had a problem with our sink and the maid service forgot out room. the hotel staff went above and beyond to fix this mistake. Would absolutely stay there again.

Truly friendly service, excellent facility, wonderful location, comfortable efficiency apartment-style room. What more can one ask for? Reasonably priced in comparison to the options on the other side of the river in Downtown, yet a very pleasant stroll across to all of its sights and (bonus!) right near all the dining options of the North End. Our room looked out over the USS Constitution and the lovely marina next door, and we could easily look across the narrow river to the North End, with Old North Church at its apex. A great view! We even took advantage of the indoor pool area, which our young son adored.

We stayed on Labor Day weekend, and even during that busy time the staff was warm and welcoming, the breakfast was varied and plenty. I'm pleased to recommend this hotel to anyone, especially those traveling with young children!

Room Tip: Ask for a slightly higher level room facing the USS Constitution! (Note: on the 5th level where we...

While traveling with my elderly in-laws we found this property to be perfect. We needed to have a room or rooms to accommodate 4 people for 1 night and 5 people for two more nights. I did not have much lead time to get us reservations - I found rooms in Boston to be quite expensive and we were going to have to get two rooms for the nights we would have 5 people. This hotel seemed to be our only reasonable alternative so I booked. I wasn't happy that we were on the edge of Boston. HOWEVER, I will stay here again. Upon arrival our room was upgraded. And, the man I spoke to over the phone went out of his way to find me a much better rate than was offered online - all without us even asking. It's a pleasant walk to the North End (Italian) for fabulous food and an ever shorter walk to Charlestown for the Warren Tavern and if you need to go get groceries, liquor or find a pharmacy. There's a full kitchen and snacks are served around 5. We did not have,or need, a car because we booked the Upper Deck Trolley tour which has a stop within a couple of blocks from hotel. That was our sightseeing/transportation each day. We mentioned at the front desk that my mother in law had just turned 80 and that was the reason for our trip. A couple of hours later a bottle of wine, birthday card and plate full of freshly baked cookies arrived at our door! The most thoughtful hotel staff ever. My mother-in-law couldn't have felt more special. Because of the service we received here, we stayed at the Residence Inn in Concord, NH and Resisdence Inn Portsmouth Waterfront for the rest of our vacation.

Okay, Boston is a terribly expensive city. I went to Residence on Tudor Wharft to escape the $400 night rooms. The staff was unbelievably helpful and resourceful. We got tips where to go, what to see, and they even printed out and had info waiting for us as we checked in! (without even asking for that service!) You are about a half mile from the restaurant row (Go to Giaraco's Italian). Rooms were great, and we got upgraded for no reason, which was very nice with a full refrigerator, etc. etc. Views are okay, but we left early in a.m. to fly out. If you want to save money, go WAY OUT OF BOSTON CITY to get your hotel. The state of MA also loves to tax the rooms to death, so keep that in mind. I would stay here again, but I have little money to do what I did this time, so I will go an hour outside of Boston I think and stay at $150 instead of $300 rooms. Left too early to eat free bfast (darn!)
