while visiting Boston we stayed here. Convenient location, spacious room with a very comfortable bed. A little bit high priced, but very nice. The bar was a great place to have a drink and watch the Red Sox, and the staff was very good.

Although this is a reasonable hotel, in a decent location, with good sized rooms. There are a few things that go against it for me:

- For what you get, it's overpriced. I was staying there as part of conference on a negotiated rate and it was still expensive for what you get
- The rooms feel a bit dated and are showing a bit of wear and tear
- Cleanliness could have been better, there were a few very long hairs in and around the bath when I arrived
- The windows can't be opened and the aircon is incredibly noisy, this meant the room was overly warm overnight and I didn't sleep well
- The WiFi is free, but pretty slow with an annoying banner that causes some websites not to load
- Maybe it's time to replace the HiFi with built in tape and CD player with iPod docks?
- $7 for a litre bottle of water? You're joking aren't you?
- Didn't have breakfast as it was overpriced and there's some very good local places to eat

When I took a cab from Logan Airport to Loews Hotel, the driver reminded me that it was the 3rd name change in a short time. I stayed there last year when the Doyle Group owned it and called it Back Bay Hotel. Situated very centrally, 10 min from Boston Common. Rooms are spacious. Concierge extremely helpful. Breakfast is pricey and not recommended. I'm told that there will be more internal changes to the decor in December. Good spot meeting in the lobby area but piped Muzak way too loud. The hotel is in the former HQ of the Boston Police Dept. The bar has no atmosphere.

We liked the Back Bay Hotel four years ago, and we still like it under its new ownership. It offers the kind of relaxed upscale experience that fits very nicely into its Back Bay neighbourhood and should be on the list of business and private travellers alike.
Not much has changed in the last four years, but I understand some major upgrade is in the offing; but even though, nothing felt dated or looked worn.
There is not much in terms of views over Boston, even on the higher floors; but having enjoyed staying at some distance to street level, we again requested to be put there. The good news: Loews cheerfully accommodated our wish. The not so good news: the 10th (I believe the highest floor available) somewhat defies the purpose of staying higher up. Its total floor size is much smaller than the Loews' overall floor size from ground level all the way up to the 9th and this essentially means that instead of gazing down at the streetscape below you'll have a sizeable roof area right at your feet, fenced by a 5ft wall (and no, it doesn't look or feel remotely like a roof terrace). So, oddly, despite being at the top of the hotel it very much feels like being in a ground level room. And despite the possible advantages of this setting (smaller overall size means fewer rooms, making it potentially quieter) I personally will try to avoid the 10th in the future.
The room itself, a Grand King, was grand indeed, so large it bordered on the cavernous; a smaller one is fully sufficient and way more cozy. But it too comes in those calm, soothing pastel tones we had appreciated before; sports a coffee maker, a nice chaise lounge that is perfect for devouring book after book and a comfy mattress. We found everything to be spotlessly clean.
WiFi is free, water is not - both quite common in this category, although we've seen some direct competitors of the Loews charge for using the internet.
What else - the staff we encountered was chatty, but in a very helpful, unobtrusive way. Overall, this upscale, friendly, relaxed and brilliantly located will be a strong contender for our next visit to Boston.

Room Tip: Avoid the 10th if you enjoy the view over Big-City streetscapes.

We stayed 3 nights in October 2013. The hotel is a grand old building (the former Boston police headquarters) in a terrific central location, close to amenities, sights, and cultural venues. We stayed in a deluxe king room, which is a little compact, but offered comfort and luxury without costing the earth. Staff are pleasant and helpful and the small gym was a welcome addition for active travellers. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Boston.

Loews Boston Hotel is in the former police headquarters in Back Bay. It's in a quieter location at night, which we preferred but still so close to everything - 2 minute walk to Boston Common. The room was superb and comfortable, and the staff were attentive. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Planned a trip to Boston for my wife's birthday and this hotel came highly recommended from a cousin. Was looking for a 5 star property in the Back Bay where we could walk to Fenway, shopping, dining and sightseeing. We like unique hotels and the Loews building was previously home of the Boston Police Headquarters. Gorgeous renovation. The staff knew I was taking the family to Fenway for the first time and celebrating my wife's birthday. They sent wine to the room for her birthday plus homemade cookies and milk for our children and a card wishing us the best at the game. The room was beautiful, the staff was very friendly and professional and we had a GREAT stay. Asked my kids on Sunday to rate the weekend on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being boring and 10 being magical. They said it was a 30! Great hotel. Will not stay anywhere else.
