This hotel provided all you can ask for - clean, comfortable and spacious rooms in the heart of a major city. The staff bent over backwards to make everything just so. The valet parking is a bit pricey ($45 a night) and is off site so you might consider finding one of the several garages close by; and the T is about 4-5 blocks away, which might be a hassle in cold weather. But don't let these minor hassles push you away, this is a superlative hotel!

We asked for a quiet room, which is obviously a major ask in any city hotel, but were pleasantly surprised. Our room 449 overlooked the inner side of the hotel so virtually no traffic noise and the solid construction of the building ( an old police HQ) reduced transmitted noise to nearly zero.
The reception staff , door staff and concierge were polite and helpful and the location is good for sightseeing on foot. We took a cab to Quincy market ( a great place for breakfast/ brunch to fuel a walk), then walked to the Paul Revere house and walked back via Boston Common along a fair part of the freedom trail route. This was an easy walk.
The hotel is also near Back Bay station with quite fast trains to NY Penn and beyond, thus avoiding having to take your shoes off at airports!
Like Boston itself, this hotel presents a relaxed, polite, efficient image.

Room Tip: The inward facing area for quiet.

Dear trenchfoot,

Thank you so much for the great review! Sounds like you saw quite a bit of Boston while in town! And, yes, the hotel is in the perfect location to take it all in, only a block away from the Amtrak station and walking distance to all the sites. Please come back and visit us again soon!

I booked through Priceline for $166/night ($200 w/ tax and fees). I wouldn't hesitate to book again at this price, within walking distance (1.5 miles) of Fenway, Faneuil Hall, North End, and Chinatown.

Thank you for the review. While our goal is always to achieve ‘5’s’, we do appreciate the kind comments about the food. Yes, Precinct Kitchen + Bar provides classic New England cuisine with our own little twist and nothing is more representative of our offering than the Clam Chowdah and the Lobstah Roll! Glad you enjoyed. Thanks again and we hope to see you soon…and we promise to earn 5 stars!!!

This hotel is unique as it's the old Boston Police Headquarters, that's cool......BUT the king room is so small there isn't room to use the ironing board, it's that small. The bathroom is tiny, not enough room for 2 people in this room. Location is back bay near high end shopping and dinning, which was great! I would not stay again unless they have bigger rooms available.

Dear TinaMarie227,

My most sincere apologies to you that we did not accommodate you in a room that was of sufficient size. We do have 4 different levels of rooms with king size beds before our Suite categories, and our King rooms do average 350 square feet. If you contact me directly on your next visit to Boston at john.maibach@loewshotels.com, I will ensure not only you get the right room but that your next review of us will be all 5’s! I hope to have the opportunity to personally welcome you back and apologize in person!

The Loews Boston hotel, like many of its sister properties across the country, is an upscale hotel with predictably good service and location. In particular, the Loews Boston is located near the heart of great downtown shopping and dining. The standard rooms are on the small side but it also means you can walk to just about anywhere within 10-15 minutes. The Boston hotel is an old police precinct turned modern lodging. The top floors (5 and above) are newly renovated and quiet. Be sure to ask the front desk for higher floors when you check in.

WHAT I LIKE:
- Upscale hotel at a great location
- Safe part of town (to walk) and near many of Boston’s famous landmark, Newbury and Boylston streets shopping and endless choices of eateries.
- Rooms are nicely appointed and amenities such as newspaper, Kuerig coffee, wi-fi are included in the room rate.
- Precinct, the hotel restaurant, is a cozy place for a drink and a quick bite.

WHAT I DON’T LIKE:
- Hotel room (as with most downtown hotels) is a bit small-adequate for 1-2 adults but a squeeze for a family of 4.
- Fancy coffee maker in the lobby consistently breaks down so don’t bother.
- Hotel gym is a joke. HOWEVER, the hotel has complimentary day passes to an awesome fitness center, EQUINOX, nearby.
- Bathroom has limited counter space and cell reception is spotty.

In closing, you can’t go wrong with staying at the Loews Boston. You pay a little bit more (about $300/night) but you get to enjoy all that Boston has to offer on foot.

Room Tip: Avoid the hotel gym - ask for a complimentary day pass to Equinox - top rated fitness center about 1...

Hello AverageJoe1

Thank you very much for posting a comprehensive review of your recent stay with us. We do appreciate you taking the time to do so! Some great comments and some very fair notes on how we can improve. Thank you very much for sharing them. Yes, only one floor is not renovated (28 rooms). The best way to guarantee you receive a renovated room is to book directly through our website, which also offers a best rate guarantee. There was one weekend where we had a number of issues with our coffee maker in the lobby but they have been corrected and it is back to making its fantastic (and free!) espressos/cappuccinos/lattes/hot chocolates! We appreciate your patience and understanding and our apologies if this negatively impacted your experience. And we do have plans to enhance our Fitness Room later this year.

We appreciate the feedback and hope to see you again soon!

This was a great place to stay on a business trip and was close to all the nice restaurants. It was located in a safe neighborhood so we could walk to all the restaurants close by. The conference rooms in the hotel were great as well and the staff was very friendly.
