Description: Meritage Restaurant + Wine Bar is known for its excellence in wine and food pairings. The connection between wine and food, as well as Chef Daniel Bruce's deeply-rooted ties with vintners from around the world, are integrated throughout the dining experience - from the wine aperitif pairing that guests enjoy with their Amuse Bouche to the olive oil poured tableside from a different featured vineyard each month. Chef Bruce works with vineyards across the globe to source ingredients exclusively for Meritage that are incorporated into the menu, including citrus, spices, herbs, nuts, meats and other specialty items grown on the vineyards. The Meritage menu honors the restaurant's hallmark of matching wine to food and showcases Chef Bruce's extraordinary dedication to the finest ingredients. Native to New England, Chef Bruce has established longstanding relationships with local farmers and purveyors, and bases his menus solely on ingredients at the peak of freshness. Working with unusual and varied ingredients allows each dish on the menu to be unique while simultaneously enhancing the wine's flavor.

Loved the menu concept: six separate menu segments, with three selections in each. Choose small or large dishes with each selection, with all dishes priced equally. Flawless food, exceptional wine list, and perfect service make for an exceptional dinner.

“Wow!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 September 2013

An excellent dining evening at Meritage.

We arrived 15 minutes early for our reservation. The host advised that a table at the window, overlooking the water was just opening up and would we mind waiting a couple of minutes for this table. We thought that would be great and sat at the bar to wait and enjoy a cocktail.

The bar was very nice. My wife ordered a glass of champagne and I ordered a sazerac. The bartender gave my wife a taste of the champagne she ordered. Not caring for that glass of champagne she ordered another champagne. Tasted offered again, and this one was acceptable. Nice sazerac for me.

A few minutes later we were seated at a very nice table with a lovely view of the bay.

Several choices on the menu of both seafood and meat items. The entrees are served in either small or large plate sizes. Our server recommended three small plates or one small and one large plate. We both opted for three small plates. While all of our courses were very good we were both full after the second small plate. We had the crab cake, scallops, halibut, mushroom soup, swordfish on risotto and the lamb chop. All were very good. The lamb chop was overcooked and returned to the kitchen. A new lamb chop, perfectly cooked was soon brought out to us.

The wine sommelier offered some very good advice on our wine selection from the large wine list.

Our only negative comment would be that the dining room was lit a little too brightly. But overall, a very lovely evening with great food, service and view.

“Winetastic”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 September 2013

Excellent service from the minute you enter the restaurant. The server, sommelier and receptionist were exceptionally polite. Our server was efficient and informed. I love the design of the menu and the small plates allowed us to try more dishes. The Foie Gras and sweet breads were spectacular. The lamb chops are the best dish in the house. The fillet was very good but not great.

Now, the only issue is that they do stretch out the meal, so if you enjoy that, great; if you are pressed for time (babysitting charges, etc.) then request the server to quicken the pace.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 August 2013

my wife Linda finished her vacation today and chose Meritage for her final brunch. we also were joined by my eight year old granddaughter Victoria. since it was restaurant week we had a three course fixed menu. we all ate like we never ate before all dishes in each of the three courses. the food was delicious, the service great. it was a good final ending for Linda's vacation. and we recommend Meritage for Sunday brunch.

“Good food, good wine all made excellent by outstanding customer service!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 August 2013 via mobile

Tonight I enjoyed a wonderful. 3 course meal of shrimp, mushrooms and broccoli rab, then a perfect filet completed by a medley of chocolate desserts. Sancerre, Twomwy Pinot Noir and a 20 year tawny port complimented each course. But Yuna, the vivacious and extremely customer service oriented bartender raised the dining experience from excellent to superlative. Great job!
