“Wonderful brunch at Hamersley's”
Reviewed 20 July 2012

I was a guest at a baby shower which was held at Hamersley's. They did not want to have the typical tacky shower, and wanted a more intimate nice meal for brunch and just a gathering of friends. The food and service was terrific and they made a special cake that was not only beautiful but DELICIOUS!

Tip: if you go for brunch, order the basket of baked muffins, scones, etc. Mmmmmm.

“A great Boston restaurant”

Good food, prize-winning chef, sophisticated ambience -- a superb combination. Great location, too, in Back Bay.

“Perfect for a warm evening”
Reviewed 8 July 2012

Perhaps it is a Miami thing, however, I adore "Al Fresco" dining. From it, I can not only dine amongst trees and flowerbeds, but I can also be part of the pedestrian activity and the vibrancy associated with it.

In Boston this weekend, I had the unique opportunity to visit an "Al Fresco" dining restaurant next door to the Boston Center for the Arts called Hamersley's Bistro.

Upon sitting down, my friend and I ordered a very pleasant Rosé. I am usually a Pinot Noir or Chenin Blanc kind of guy, however, this summer, the Rosé seems to be the wine à la mode. The summer heat has generated a feeling deep within me where I want a something more liberated and with greater simplicity without all the constraints and formalities of other wines.

All the meals at Hamersley's were beautifully crafted and they reflected what is locally available and fresh. Moreover, they pull together well a fusion of unique ingredients and cooking techniques that created a seamless fresh dish.

For example:

-The mussels were marinated in some kind of tangerine broth which was lovely to dip the chewy crust bread in.

-The spring rabbit with Persian spiced chickpeas, preserved lemon, green peas and pistachios were delightful. It had a distinguishing/robust flavor as it was infused with lemon zest, cilantro and a savory broth.

-The skillet-cooked pink salmon-trout with radish, arugula and grapefruit salad was divine. Seafood is tricky, it can soak up a lot of flavor in a short amount of time. This was cooked well as it didn't come out bitter or acidic.

In addition, the staff were incredibly courteous and they know just when to pay attention to you and when to leave you in peace with your meal. They also are very knowledgeable.

I don't order desert anymore. However, if I could have picked something from the menu, it would have been the strawberry shortcake... perfect for a warm evening.

I had a lovely evening at Hamersley's. The entrees cost an average of $30. However, I had great food, service and weather to wish for.

“Brunch”
Reviewed 1 July 2012

Stumbled upon this place while walking to the SOWA outdoor market, with my husband on Sunday morning. We were immediately drawn to the beautiful al fresco dining area for a quick brunch. This place is adorable and fresh. My waffle with fresh berries was delicious. My husband enjoyed his asparagus salad plate with hard-boiled egg, but it seemed a little skimpy for $14....& a slice a toast or bread would have gone a long way towards making him a little more satisfied. It was delicious none-the-less, however perhaps a little on the pricey side for brunch. Our server was pleasant and efficient. Dinner menu looked interesting as well...might try dinner here on our next visit to Boston.
