After a recent trip to Tokyo, I was in the mood for really good sushi close to home. I've been to Village Sushi several times before, and it was always good but not great. This time was the best, not just for this restaurant but among the best sushi I've had in Boston, and close to that superb Midori sushi I loved so much in Japan.
I had the Sushi Deluxe, a chef's selection with 15 pieces of nigiri sushi for $22. In a dish like this, I usually expect to love 5-6 pieces, and like the rest to a varying degree. This time I lost count of the pieces that were superb: tasty, perfect texture and freshness, just delicious.
Last month I went to another sushi restaurant, highly reviewed, in Cambridge. I ended up paying much more and getting less in food quantity and satisfaction. I wish I had gone here instead. Village Sushi has been in business for quite a few years. It remains busy and popular, and deservedly so.
