“Great dive bar, great drinks”
Review of The Tam

This was an easy walk from our hotel. It is seriously a dive bar and it wins awards for being a dive bar. By no means is it gross, just a great casual joint with great drinks. Patrick the bar tender was easy to talk to with a long pour. We watched a Bruins game there. Decent enough. There was a very eclectic crowd: theatre patrons, locals and Euros staying is the nearby Hostel.

If you are expecting a faux Irish Bar, wanting food, or like plastic pretentious Bars Boston is full of them - go find yourself one, because the Tam is not for you. The Tam knows exactly what it is - a good old local Bar, serving great drinks at great prices. It's no frills, it's got a diverse clientèle - which is part of the fun and the Bar staff are superb - leave your attitude at the door and they will be super with you . It's popular with college students quiz night is fun, big buck hunter is a hit and there's always Boston sports on if there's a game. Theres a great Pizza joint next door - they are more than happy for you to bring food in and eat it in the Bar. The Tam is simply one of the best Dive Bars period - grab a seat, hold on tight and watch the world meander by. The Lavatories are worth a visit (not!) but that's all part of the full Tam experience.

Only good thing about the place was the drinks were cheap. There's isn't any other reason to go there.

Was here for St. Patrick's Day 2012 and had a blast! We went downtown and the cover charges were crazy... so ended up at The Tam. Bartenders are a bit slow, but the place was packed. The drinks are strong and the beer is cheap! Bathrooms are pretty disgusting, but given that it's a dive bar it was pretty much understood ahead of time not to expect much. Crowd was great. We had a great time and very memorable St. Patty's! Will stop back for a drink or two next time I'm in Boston

The Tam seems like a nice Dive type of bar with friendly people. Don't be fooled. I am a native Bostonian and will tell you first hand the staff is down right rude and nasty. I would pass it by. There are much better Irish Bars in Boston. Skip it as the neighborhood is basically a "stripper zone" Good place if you are looking for street walkers!
