“Dive Bar in the Theater District”
Reviewed 29 September 2013

Most definitely a dive bar ... But what a good time. We were staying nearby and found this bar within walking distance of our hotel. We were staying in Boston for a couple of nights and went back the second night. The second night, we were treated like regulars that had been going there for years. The bartenders were awesome, especially Pat... The guys checking ID's at the door were personable and friendly. Great place to have a few drinks and meet people. But beware, if you come in with an attitude that you're better than anyone in the place, the bartenders will bring you back to reality... And what fun that was to witness. Hearty liquor pours in the mixed drinks is an understatement. Cash Only - There is an ATM machine in the bar.

“Dive, yes. Probably better options around there”
Reviewed 11 September 2013

Well, yea, as many said, kind of an old-time bar - lots of crap on the walls, old weathered bar, etc. TV's with sports on all over the place (sports bar) I don't get the "cheap drinks" thing though. I mean, $5.75 for an Octoberfest IPA ? (+tip). Went on the night it was "usually GAY" - per other reviews -, a Sunday night. Sorry, don't get that either. Very few people in the place (8:30 PM), mostly B/G couples or small 4-somes (B/G). Definitely NOT a feel of a Gay Bar. The bartender was a very friendly nice guy. Had the 1 beer and left.

“Great dive bar, great drinks”
Reviewed 19 June 2013

This was an easy walk from our hotel. It is seriously a dive bar and it wins awards for being a dive bar. By no means is it gross, just a great casual joint with great drinks. Patrick the bar tender was easy to talk to with a long pour. We watched a Bruins game there. Decent enough. There was a very eclectic crowd: theatre patrons, locals and Euros staying is the nearby Hostel.

“Local Neighbourhood Bar”
Reviewed 9 March 2013

If you are expecting a faux Irish Bar, wanting food, or like plastic pretentious Bars Boston is full of them - go find yourself one, because the Tam is not for you. The Tam knows exactly what it is - a good old local Bar, serving great drinks at great prices. It's no frills, it's got a diverse clientèle - which is part of the fun and the Bar staff are superb - leave your attitude at the door and they will be super with you . It's popular with college students quiz night is fun, big buck hunter is a hit and there's always Boston sports on if there's a game. Theres a great Pizza joint next door - they are more than happy for you to bring food in and eat it in the Bar. The Tam is simply one of the best Dive Bars period - grab a seat, hold on tight and watch the world meander by. The Lavatories are worth a visit (not!) but that's all part of the full Tam experience.
