“Very good location, good value, Interesting building”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 June 2014

There were 6 of us traveling to Boston for a girls' weekend. It is a beautifully renovated factory. We had 2 rooms with 3 in each. The rooms were spacious, very clean and well laid out. With 3 of us it is very handy to have the sink outside the bathroom. The shower is very large with 2 shower heads that can work whether you are tall or short. There isn't a closet but a good sized armoire to hang clothes in and a fair number of drawers for clothes and other items. It is very handy to have a kitchen and eating bar.

Breakfast was good with a reasonable variety of items to chose from. Scrambled eggs, self-made waffles, breakfast meats, cereals, breads, hot oatmeal etc. Most of our visit was on the weekend so we didn't really get to take advantage of the evening reception as they don't have it on the weekends. We were only there one night it was offered and they weren't serving anything i could eat.

It would have been nice to have rooms right beside each other but there was only 1 room between us so still very handy. Not sure if we just had exceptionally noisy neighbors one night or the walls are not soundproof but some of us in both rooms were awoken with noise in the middle of the night. As well if you are unlucky enough to be there when the airport is using a particular runway it can be noisy starting early in the morning. It happened only 1 morning so the rest of the time it was very quiet.

There is a handy subway stop at the end of the block for easy access all over the city and out to the airport. If we had known how close the subway station really was we could have taken it into the city from the airport but we were getting in after dark and didn't want to figure out where we were. You don't have to take the subway as it is an easy walk to many places right from the hotel. A couple of us bought a 7 day subway pass which more than paid for itself in the 3.5 days we were in Boston.

Most of the staff were very pleasant and helpful. I wish i could remember the name of the front desk person who was working when we arrived as she was extremely helpful whenever she was on duty. We did have a bit of trouble on Sunday when the housekeeping staff didn't leave us any toilet paper. We asked the front desk to rectify that when we went out for the evening but when we got back hours later nothing had been done. As well we had called down earlier to the same front desk person asking for a cab to be ordered about an hour before we needed it. As we wanted a car for 6 we ordered it early to ensure they could accommodate us. It was evident when we went downstairs that she had called for it as soon as we were off the phone and a very irritated cab driver had been sitting waiting for us. She didn't bothered to call us and tell us it was there in spite of my request for her to call me back and confirm the cab had been ordered. It was someone else on the front desk when we got back and he was very apologetic and sent toilet paper up immediately. Other than these small glitches the staff were great.

We did a lot of research on where to stay and this hotel provided us with the space and convenient location we wanted for a reasonable price. I definitely recommend it if you want more room than a standard hotel room.

I am a Platinum member and stayed here with our kids. We always stay at the Residence Inn with the kids because it's convenient to have a kitchen and save money on meals. Our room was very clean and breakfast was fresh. This hotel is centrally located downtown. We walked all over the place and bought the 2 day trolley pass and was perfect.

We wanted a 2 bedroom suite but got the 1 bedroom suite and was spacious but it would've been better with a 2 bedroom suite or 2 bedrooms. It's way easier to have more space when traveling with kids!!!!!!!!

You must see the Navy ships, it was interesting and the kids loved it!!!!!

Room Tip: If traveling with kids, upgrade to a 2 bedroom suite.

Stayed here for 3 nights to attend a convention at the Boston Convention and Exhibit Center. I'm a big fan of the Residence Inn chain, and this hotel did not disappoint. I booked this hotel several months in advance of the convention and snagged a great rate!

We booked two rooms -- each were one-bedroom suites with a full kitchen like all Residence Inn rooms have. The dining area was like a bar height with tall chairs instead of a standard 2-seat dinette you might see in other RI properties. Each room had plenty of outlets to charge electronics -- no having to choose whether to charge your phone or iPod LOL!

Breakfast was your usual RI fare -- eggs, sausage, make-your-own waffles, bagels/toast, yogurt, cereal, juice, coffee, etc. One morning there was pancakes, another had sausage gravy and biscuits, and another featured a sausage/potato dish with peppers.

The BCEC is walking distance from the hotel, and several (pricey) restaurants within walking distance. Since we were traveling with teenagers, we were looking for lower-priced options for meals. We hit the Au Bon Pain at the Children's Museum (only a couple of blocks away) a lot. Flour Bakery and another market/store were also like a block away. I couldn't get enough of Flour Bakery's desserts!!

I tried to book a room to attend the same convention next year but now that word has gotten out about this hotel, the price has more than doubled what I paid for my stay!

Room Tip: X03 rooms are corner rooms and bigger than the other 1-BR suites. Our other room was an X02 room and...

Very nice property.
The change from a former Candy Factory to an amazing Hotel property is amazing.
The modern decor blends perfectly with the past history.
The room which includes a fully equipped kitchen ,living room and a comfortable bed and bathroom can be compared to a full suite.
The Breakfast is plentiful with hot dishes, breads and pastry selection as well as juices, fresh fruits and more.
The staff was very personal yet professional.
The location is perfectly located, close to all the sights.
We will return when in Boston .

The good: Large room with exposed beams and trendy décor - very inviting. TV in middle of room swivels for viewing from any spot. Clean, and decent towels. Not too noisy despite being close to Logan. Within a 15-minute walk of the Seaport area with excellent dining choices. Another 15-30 minute walk into downtown for history and shopping. Friendly breakfast staff, and good selection of hot and cold items (eggs, potatoes, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit, juice).

The not-so: A bit of a glitch at check-in (apparently I'd reserved the wrong rate code) but quickly resolved. Wi-Fi kept dropping out in the evening making it frustrating to get any work done. No tub or make-up mirror. Housekeeping threw away my travel packets of facial products I'd left near my make-up bag - OOPS. Had to use soap and body lotion instead. Finally, housekeeping ran the dishwasher for just a fork and a mug even though they have an environmental policy stating they only run the dishwasher when it's full.

Room Tip: Ask for one away from the main road for a quieter stay.

This hotel is a formerly rather seedy industrial area that has been redeveloped in recent years to become attractive, convenient, and trendy. The immediate neighborhood is relatively quiet. There is a nearby T stop, it's not far from Logan Airport, and there are a number of restaurants to choose from.

I stayed only two nights in a two-room suite that included a small kitchen and eating area, quite large and comfortable enough for an extended stay. There is modest breakfast served very morning and dinners on some nights, which helps ease the sting of the rather high room rates. The hotel is an a renovated warehouse or factory building, which makes for some unusual but attractive features including high ceilings, exposed wood beams and brick walls. It has the more the look and feel of an apartment than a traditional hotel, which I really liked.

Service (check in, bell desk, etc.) was friendly but a bit slow and clumsy. The hotel is very clean and the free wi-fi worked very well. I would definitely stay here again on a business trip and it's a good choice for a couple or a small family on vacation, as well.

The included breakfast is good and makes the stay nicer. No room service during the day unfortunately. Neat places to eat within walking distance. Del frisco's is especially great. Fun to sip a beer from the Whiskey Priest and overlook the water, a few blocks away. The staff were very friendly.
