The food here is great. The service is generally pretty good. The owner comes across as miserable, rude and bitter. I'd love to give 224 5 stars, but the negative vibe of the owner requires subtraction of one star.

Favorite dishes: lobster mac n cheese, pumpkin tortollone, calamari

The bar was the best spot in town when Marcus was behind it. Now it's hit or miss, but good enough.

Cheer up, Kevin. You've got a great restaurant. Don't be such a downer all the time. You are driving regular customers away.

While staying at the local Marriott Courtyard, I decided to take advantage of room service from 224. Ordered a simple cheesburger (cooked medium) and fries. After waiting for a little over an hour, I called to find out where my order was. The first three calls, no one answered. Finally on the fourth try someone answered and told me that my order was just now leaving because the restaurant was very busy. 15 minutes later, my food was delivered. The fries were cold and soggy. The burger was rare, not even close to medium, and the cheese was cold. All in all, I would have been better off getting a sandwich from the lobby convenience store.

This restaurant has a decent menu, a good selection of beers, and a cosy atmosphere. You might not tracel across town for lthis place, but when you're in the neighborhood it's worth a visit.

224 as our 4th restaurant visited during restaurant week. It was quaint and cozy. Although everyone was talking it was not overwhelming at all. The food there was absolutely fantastic! We love the calamari....the watercress and tomatoes were a great addition. Then we has the chicken wrap by the time dinner came we were already full and wrapped it up just so we can have dessert. Egg roll apple crisp with vanilla bean ice cream.....bread pudding....simply delicious. A must go! Hurry!

It was a rainy dreary November night and "224" was a bright and cheerful oasis. The woman tending bar was friendly and that encouraged us to just eat right there at the bar. Food was excellent, service prompt and as the evening went along the bar filled with many locals braving the rainy night to have a good time at 224. We'd go back the next time we're in Boston without hesitation. It was one of the highlights of our trip.
