This historic hotel (old YMCA building) is well located in the Back Bay area of Boston - the "T" (commuter train) is just half a block from the front door. Avis rental car is nearby. Copley Square is a block away where many of the tour companies have stops. There are a number of good restaurants in the area, (be sure to visit FLOUR Bakery right across the street). The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Even though our room was small, it was clean and comfortable and suited our needs (we were in town for a wedding). We would be comfortable staying here again for the central location and easy access to public transportation.

My husband and I recently stayed at Hotel 140 for a night. The reception staff were very efficient and helpful which was welcoming after a long flight. The room was small but clean and well located. The flour bakery was nearby, which was great for breakfast.

We moved from a high end luxury hotel [where we'd been staying for a wedding] to Hotel 140 because it was less than half the price and provided us a new location base. We were so pleasantly surprised by what we found. The lobby and hallways are not luxurious, but everything was clean, and the room had a great bed, a flat screen TV, a comfortable armchair, and a powerful handheld in the shower. The location was a great change for us, too!

This hotel is quiet & clean and in a great location. It's not a fancy boutique hotel but, if you don't plan to spend much time in the tiny rooms, the accommodations are fine and reasonably priced for Boston.

We stayed here for 3 nights in October. The hotel is in Back Bay, which is a perfect location for Boston sightseeing. It is the old YWCA, a building converted into a hotel. The rooms are small, but nicely furnished with adequate bathrooms. Our bed was against the wall, which meant that any nighttime visit to the bathroom had to be carefully negotiated. Everything was very clean. The reception staff were efficient, friendly and very helpful. You are close to bars, restaurants and the sights. We would stay there again and recommend it as an ideal, reasonably priced city hotel. Do have breakfast at Charlies's, about 3 blocks walk. Outstanding food in a great atmosphere.

Room Tip: Ask for a bigger room, the small ones are small!

My daughter and I were made to feel very welcome by the housekeeper and reception staff. Without requesting it we were upgraded by them when we arrived to a room with 2 Queen beds The position of the hotel is excellent. it is within walking distance of many of Boston,s attractions.
We stayed for 3 nights and then returned the following weekend for 2 nights. We were not upgraded when we returned because the hotel was fully booked but we still had enough space in the room.
As my daughter is an adult we did not use the children,s facilities.

We liked staying here but our first room was so small we couldn't get around the end of the bed. The helpful staff moved us in the morning to a bit bigger room. The location is very good we arrived by train just a block away and the area around Copley square is full of shops and restaurants. We went on Bostons freedom trail which was also nearby and up the Prudential building for a fantastic view of the city. We would say this hotel is still like a YMCA, it's very basic and clean if you are on a budget.

Room Tip: If you have luggage book a king size room
