I've been to plenty of Irish pubs around the world including Ireland. Not just Dublin but the likes of Kenmare and Ballyvaughan. I have no idea what people see in the Black Rose, but they do and it's crowded. All the meals I saw on our table and others around me looked terrible, overpriced and best described as a shocker. I can't begin to describe my seafood combination, other than there was little good about it. I only saw the entertainment briefly, but the sound and atmosphere wasn't enough to entice us to stay. If you want a rowdy pub, like minded people and food you pay a lot for but can't remember why, then perhaps this is for you. There has to be better in Boston.

Group went here on a rainy, Saturday night. We just had drinks here, so cannot comment on the food. Shortly after arriving, the live band began to play. A couple of friends met some Irish men (had passports for ID) and showed them how to Irish jive.

Being scotch/Irish , it's a great place to eat, drink and relax and feel like being across the pond. Great music and a true Celtic feel. Keep it up!

As i spent the weekend working in Boston and there were a lot of comments about the good food and good music i gave it a try.
The bar really looks good, lots of space and somewhat traditional, and the irish bartenders with they're usual charm (!!).
Ordered the menu and choose the Black Rose Trio. I've changed the french fries for the onion rings they were great, but there were no Guinness stew beef, only two small mugs with terrible stews. Man that looked nasty!
Ordered the Guinness pint as usual, and i have to say that i were best served in other places that weren't irish pubs compared with this one.
Hope to return and have fun with friends and the live irish music.

The irish bar has been copied the world over and it can get a little weary after a while (even for an Irish man like myself) but this place is the genuine article. Feels like the place has been around for a long time, probably frequented just as happily by locals and tourists alike. Ordered mussels and lamb shank (starter and main) and was suitably impressed - particularly by the mussels. The waitress was from Cavan and was very friendly, chatty and helpful.

Came back later for the live music. Not overly crowded (I got a seat) but enough there to give the place a lively atmosphere.

Thoroughly enjoyable.
