Good Luck trying to find a parking spot. If you are a tourist take public transportation or get a cab. Be sure to try Ten Tables.

Like to go there for dinner and enjoy some of the boutique shops.

Great place to bike to on a sunny day... go past Jamaica Pond for some natural beauty, then cruise over to Centre Street and enjoy City Feed & Supply (organic/indie grocery store) or the flagship JP Licks location. Lots of great people watching too, since JP (as locals affectionately call it) attracts a full range of people, from young families toting strollers to singles, all races/ethnicities, etc

I live here, so I am a bit biased. Be that as it may, JP is defiantly among the coolest places in the city.
Jamaica Plain has great coffee shops (try Fiore's, Canto 6, or either City Feed location), amazing restaurants in every price range, and funky boutiques selling everything from kitchenware (Gadgets) to unique hats (Salmagundi). For affordable locally made accessories, try "On Centre". The owner is friendly and will gladly help you find whatever you are looking for. Have a special evening planned? Pick up flowers at Petal and Leaf.
For an upscale dinner try Ten Tables (reservations are a must). VeeVee is a slightly more affordable option, with an eclectic, but always amazing American fusion menu. There are also 2 Thai restaurants, 2 Indian restaurants, a sushi bar, and a pupuseria -and that is just on Center Street. For breakfast, stand in line for Sorella's if you are in the mood for the wackiest and tastiest omlette you can imagine, Center Street Cafe for vegan, vegetarian, or omnivore creations, or try Bon Savor and see what a French and Latin American Bistro is all about. Jamaica Plain also boasts the Sam Adams brewery where you can take a tour and sample the wares. If it is a nice day, you can tour the Arboretum, walk around Jamaica Pond, or stroll through historic Forest Hills Cemetery. Finally, check the JP Gazette frequently as there is almost always a festival, art fair or other event going on. I may be biased, as Jamaica Plain is my home, but I doubt I would live here if I didn't honestly love my funky, crazy neighborhood. Be sure to check it out!
