“5 Star feel at 4 Star Pricing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 November 2011

I LOVE this brand. Never had a bad experience. Service is always exceptional and food is always good. It's like a JW wrapped in a W rolled into a Grand Haytt. The staff is like a Ritz without the attitude and the feel is like a W without the wanna-be's in the lobby (you know the type Justine Bebe look-a-likes). The Boston Intercon has a great location, right on the water, walking distance to lots; even from South Station if you're not hauling a lot of luggage. Great for business and leisure. Meeting space is convenient and the pre-function space is wide enough that multiple groups have space.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with an water view in the summer but city in the winter.

Really beautiful hotel right on the waterfront. Modern design (hotel built in 2006) with very spacious rooms. That was really a plus for us, because being cramped (especially travelling with a 1 year old!) is always something we're concerned about in city hotels.
We had chosen this hotel, in part, due to it's proximity to the aquarium area - a short nice walk down the boardwalk.
The room was gorgeous, with a lavish, large bathroom. We did pay a little extra for an ocean view.
3 restaurants in the hotel - we went to just one routinely, Miel, for breakfast and dinner. Really just superb. I can't say enough good things about this hotel.
To be fair, though, it's not perfect. Firstly, it is a little pricey. And they don't currently offer free Wi-fi, which I think is a little silly. However - it was a blessing, though, to have some time away from the computers.

Highly recommended - we will surely stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for the highest floor you can!

Thank you for posting your review. We’re glad that you had a good visit to our hotel and that you were pleased with the size of your room and bathroom in addition to our waterfront location. As you experienced, we do offer one of the most generous sized standard hotel rooms in Boston at approximately 430 sq. ft. And, our Miel Chef de Cuisine David Chinta was thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your breakfast and dinner experiences in Miel. While we do not currently offer complimentary Wi-Fi, we are looking into this for our property. We look forward to welcoming you and your family back again soon!

This hotel was good for our business meeting. Downtown area (Quincy market, Boston Uni, Mall) was very close to the hotel. So atleast we got to get out after meeting was done.

Room Tip: High floors close to elevators...Don't worry, its not noisy at all even though you are close to...

Maybe all the rooms are not this way (we've stayed here twice with the same layout). There is an opaque sliding window at the head of the bed which separates the sleeping space from the bathroom. Unfortunately, there is a gap at the bottom of the window, so someone lying in bed can here everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) that goes on in the bathroom - not a good choice for that first romantic weekend away. To make matters worse, if you turn on the light in the bathroom, it lights up the sleeping area through the opaque but translucent window.

Another beef is that there is no free Internet access in the rooms. Although the desk clerk claimed that "all the Boston hotels charge for access," that has not been our experience. As much they charge for rooms, you would think this would be included.

Other than that, the rooms are nicely appointed and comfortable, and the location is great.

Thank you for your post. With regard to your comments regarding the room design, not all rooms offer the opaque sliding shutter between the bathroom and the bedroom. While this design element allows the room to feel open, we understand that it could be an uncomfortable feature in certain circumstances. In designing our rooms, our vision was for them to be comfortable and nicely appointed and we’re happy that you found that to be the case. With regard to complimentary Internet access, while some other Boston hotels do charge for access, we are looking into this for our property. We hope to welcome you back and we would be happy to offer you one of the rooms that do not have the sliding shutter design feature.

Excellent location, courteous staff. But sadly, not the type of Intercontinental experience I remember. Some examples:
- Costsavings (whether for the environment or for $$ reasons -shouldn't mean that only 1 or after day 1 NO washcloth is provided, or that bedlinens don't smell fresh (better after a change was specifically requested for the next day -creepy on reflection).
- Unlike other Boston 4 -5 star or boutique hotels in the same cost range, there's no morning coffee or tea ($3.00 for a small cup), and no coffemaker in the room either.
Need I mention that there was no turndown service, no chocolate, no slippers! Intercontinental - look to your competition!

Thank you for taking the time to post a review about your stay. We value feedback from our guests as it provides us with information to enhance the InterContinental Boston experience. From an environmental standpoint, as with many hotels, we do offer the option to our guests should they choose to reuse their linens or towels. A card is placed in each guest room explaining how the service works. We apologize if this card was not visible in your room as your comfort and all elements of room cleanliness are of top priority to us. With regard to coffee, in room coffeemakers are available upon request to any guest and we do apologize that you didn’t receive turndown service. We hope that we can welcome you back to the InterContinental Boston so that you can experience a more enjoyable stay at our hotel.

We were welcomed immediately on arrival and suitcases taken to our rooms. Prompt checking in by friendly staff in a very attractive reception area.

Hotel in financial district and within easy walking distance of freedom trail and Quincy market to name a few. So very well placed - also only a short drive from airport.

The room we had faced the harbour and was a lovely size, beautifully clean, and very comfortable. The bathroom had windows opening up into the room if you wished and the fittings absolutely first class - a real treat to relax in at the end of a day sightseeing.

The restuarant offered an excellent breakfast choice in really lovely surroundings. We also enjoyed a fabulous meal in evening. Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Fabulous stay.

Room Tip: Choose a room with harbour view with king size bed.

If you like firm beds, this hotel is for you! But if you are like me and like a comfy bed, stay somewhere else. I was here for 3 nights and if i would have stayed longer, then I would have moved to another hotel because the bed was so hard. I was expecting more comfort for the price.

Pros:Bathroom spacious, location great, gym was fabulous and free.

Cons: overpriced breakfast (not very yummy) although it easy to get really good breakfast in the area, the BED.
