“Best experience of our lives!”
Reviewed 2 April 2012

My husband and I spend the first night of our honeymoon before heading to Jamaica at the InterContinental! This hotel is elegant and such a great experience. The hotel noticed that it was our honeymoon and gave us the Presidential Sweet for the night. The room quality amazed us! The bathroom was spacious, spotless, and really nice. They have beautiful accommodations and gorgeous views of Boston! We ordered room service and promptly got a delicious meal! This hotel is worth the money and if you are looking for a comfortable and accommodating stay in Boston this will be your place!

We stayed at the InterContinental Boston for two nights in March. My husband was in the city on business so I tagged along. Check-in was seamless and we were in our room in no time. Our room was large, but the bathroom was even bigger! I don't think I've ever stayed at a hotel at this price point with a bathroom this big. The linens were fresh and clean - and the king sized bed was cozy. Our room was facing into the u-shaped side so the view wasn't wonderful because it was looking at the roof. It was a very long walk from the elevator, but our room was the furthest so not like it's common place.

The location of the hotel is great! So close to downtown, but also not too noisy. The front door staff was outstanding and hailed us cabs in no time flat. They have a really nice lobby bar with a great patio that overlooks the water.

There were only a couple drawbacks that were very minor in my opinion. The pool hours weren't very late (closed at 8pm) and when I went the next morning it was packed with young children. If you're not a kid fan you'd probably not be thrilled with the morning I went. Although, the gym area around the pool was really amazing! So many machines and no line up to use them. We had to make a phone to the airline and it was $1 per minute to call a 1-800 number. Seems pricy, but most hotels at this level charge.

Overall, I'd definitely stay here again and recommend the same to anyone reading this review.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the water (inside of the u-shaped area in the middle of the hotel)

A sewer pipe broke in our room the smell was unbearable! My issue with this hotel is that I had to call several times and beg the manager for a free night, which he was hesitant and I tried to argue that we really deserved more than that. A sewer pipe breaking is very unsanitary and the smell actually made me vomit!!!! It was our last night of a 5 day stay... The way they handled it was so unprofessional!
I've stayed at the four seasons and they gave me a free night based on loud people in the room next to me and I didn't even have to ask for this, they just offered it! How nice is that?
Stay clear of this hotel... Sewers breaking is not good!!! (this stay was in July of 2011, it just took me along time to write this review) but I remembered!!!

Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Everyone that I ran into made a point to say "hello" and smile. The rooms are really nice and the hotel is within walking distance from Aquarium, Chinatown, theater district and many other attractions. The hotel bar "Rumba" is very fun and lively. It is a very popular spot on Friday nights! Would love to go back.

We checked in before noon and, as an Ambassador Club member, were upgraded to an executive suite overlooking the wharf. There was an issue with my Ambassador Club number not syncing with my Priority Club number which the check-in agent noticed and offered to remedy.

The two-room suite was huge! and well laid out for business with the living/meeting area distinct from the bedroom. There was also a powder room, separate from the private bathroom, which was also a plus for business meetings. We were there for vacation, however, but enjoyed the space and added amenties.

The service, overall, was outstanding. After checking in, we decided to take a walk. The bellman stepped over to the unattended concierge desk to see if he could help and drew us the route on the map which would get us to our destination most directly and easily. Service in Miel Restaurant and the RumBa was exceptional as well.

Room Tip: Join the Ambassador's Club for $200/yr for guaranteed upgrades, free internet and a free weekend...

I was here for one night for business and then transferred to another hotel, .....and didn't want to leave. This hotel is in a great location near the harbor, historic district. Easy walking distance to Fanuiel Hall, Commons, Aquarium, and South Station. Family friendly and business oriented. Staff was professional and friendly. There is a restaurant and bar but I didn't eat there so can't comment on the food. There is a small gift shop with soda, water and snacks as well as a business center.

Also, great walking around the harbor and nearby to several really good restaurants.

Only cons was the $40 for parking, unfortunately this is a typical rate for Boston. And the price for the room was a little steep, but again - typical for Boston in that area this time of year.

Would totally recommend to other travellers.

Thank you for sharing your experience. As you mentioned, one of our most appealing features is our location. Several sites unique to Boston, such as Faneuil Hall and the New England Aquarium, are just short walking distances away.  Not only are we close to public transportation, but during the warmer months the water taxi is a fantastic way of transportation to and from the airport that many guests do not know about. With a dock right behind our hotel it is convenient and a great way to tour the Boston waterfront during your ride. Next time you visit be sure to stop by our concierge desk for more in the know tips on Boston’s attractions. We love to hear from guest that truly enjoy their visit to our property and we understand the value of word of mouth. It is great to hear you will be recommending our hotel to others and hope you will visit us again yourself.
