25th anniversary, we are planning a cruise but it was here so I called and asked my wife if she felt like blowing $500 for a night. She said lets go for it so we came here. I had been here for a conference it it seemed nice. We like the hotel and the area, it was great walking along the waterfront after dinner. Check in was easy, parking not too bad, the room was nice, we asked for waterview and if we leaned just right we could see the water. Went out for dinner but had breakfast inhouse, it was good but over $50 for 2 for breakfast was a bit much but we were celebrating so we did not care. Room ran us about $400 and 2 meals brought us up to our $500 or so for the night. It was fun to getaway to Boston, we only live 30 minutes away though.

Just had a decidedly mediocre stay at the Intercontinental Boston. I needed a room with double beds, and on the drive to the hotel we called to confirm this. I was told that because I had "booked online," the room wouldn't be assigned until check-in, but that it looked like there was "lots of availability." If there was so much availability, why couldn't the room type be confirmed? Anyway. Used the valet parking - $40 a night. The hotel's lobby is bizarre - there's very little seating, and it has the newly-renovated feel of a high end shopping mall. Check-in was fine, and we got the double room - about a four minute walk from the elevators through labyrinthine hallways. The bathroom was impressive and lovely with a tub and separate, huge, walk-in shower. The room was average - spotlessly clean but totally devoid of any personality. Great gym facility, though the pool is probably too small for exercise, it'd be great for families. Wifi was $15 a day - ridiculous at these prices. Leaving to go out on a Friday night, we were told there was no way to call a car for us, and that we'd have to pick one up on the street.

The morning we checked out, we planned to stay in the city and decided to leave the car in the garage and check our bags in the lobby. We stopped a the bell desk where a man took our bags. As he handed us the claim check, he informed us that "checking bags here is a gratuity-based service, though there's no charge through the hotel, so remember to leave something with us." No. Checking bags is a free service that I would get at a Holiday Inn, and blatantly asking for a tip is not only unprofessional but is downright rude. We always tip for small services in hotels, but asking like that makes me regret leaving a tip with you.

On top of that, when we were ready to pick up our car, someone at the bell desk took the valet ticket and called for the car, while we walked outside the front doors of the hotel to wait for the it - in the same place where we dropped the car off, obviously. We stood there watching the rain for 20 minutes before a bellman came over to ask if we needed help with something. When we said we were waiting for our car, he seemed surprised, and told us that because of the logistics of cars leaving the hotel's garage, they can't be pulled up to the front of the hotel, so guests need to descend into the basement garage to retrieve them. Not a big deal, but could the person who took our valet ticket have told us that? Could there be a sign? Could there have been sufficient help at the front of the hotel not to leave guests milling about there aimlessly for 20 minutes?

None of these things are enough to ruin a trip, but guests choose to stay at brands like Intercontinental for a heightened level of service and amenities. The bathroom was brilliant. The gym was beautifully appointed. I was totally unimpressed with the room, and I've had more courteous and professional help from hotel staff at a Motel 6.

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We understand that the little things are important when it comes to providing excellent service and apologize for the service challenges you experienced during your recent stay. The issues you experienced are unacceptable and are in no way the standard here at InterContinental Boston. I will be sharing your feedback with the appropriate departments to make sure similar incidents do not happen in the future. We hope you will give us another chance to provide the high-quality service that InterContinental is known for.

We spent a week here in July as a family. The check in was very good and friendly. The room was big and spacious and pretty clean and fresh on check in. The pool and gym were excellent and very family friendly.

I can see where some of the negative reviews come from. Yes we were opposite a fire station but to be honest it was not too much of an issue. Yes the beds were far from the most comfortable or big we ever had but they were fine. I guess it comes down to what you expect from a hotel of this level. Probably the beds were a little disappointing.

The concierge service was really helpful. They booked the Duck Tour and tickets for the Sox for us. I am sure we paid a little more but they did all the work. I would be a little weary of the cabs our front. Many were private cars which were a little more expensive than regular cabs. I would insist on a regular cab.

Overall we were happy. A good location, big room, good pool and friendly staff.

This seesm like one of the nicer and newer Intercontis around. Tasteful design and furniture. Friendly service. Good location. My only criticism is that there is no smoker's area on the cafe/restaurant terrace.

Love this hotel. If the Ritz is booked (which it is, often), or if I have many meetings around International Place or the Seaport, this is the place to stay since you can walk everywhere. The restaurants are good, the bar on the water is good, and it's great to be next to Trade and Smith and Wollensky's, and Sorelle Cafe. Rooms are clean and quiet and luxurious, and some have great views. In the winter its best not to stay in a room with 2 walls of windows if you get cold easily. Love the bathtubs and bathrooms, and the products (Gilcrest and Soames I believe) are paraben free/natural, and generous in size. They also give you nice bath towels and slippers (the Ritz doesn't even give you slippers.)

Room Tip: Corner rooms can be cold in the winter, and I always recommend staying far away from the elevators!

The Intercontinental is a great brand of hotel and it was nice to stay at the property in Boston. Our experience was really good - only small concern was the valet was very poorly organized as they were quite busy which is understandable but for $40 a night they need to get a better handle on quick efficient service. The rooms are very clean and modern - beds are very comfy. The location was very close to the waterfront and financial district in Boston and was close to the T subway South Station which was also very convenient. The hotel is top notch and the restaurants in the hotel are also very good. We had brunch at Miel and it was very good service and excellent food quality. All in all a great experience - hopefully the valet situation was only a one off but worth looking into.

Our family stayed at this hotel on August 3rd, and we had a great experience! Location is great, rooms are modern.
People were very friendly at the front desk, the concierges were very nice. We found they have class and are friendly persons, which is a very interesting mix. And I needed milk for my 2 years old at night and the bartender offered me to fill up my cup with milk for free, I found that was very nice...
We would like to go back to this hotel again for sure.
