“Excellent Service and Pleasant Environment”
Reviewed 6 September 2013

This was my second stay at this property, and it provided the same, consistent service and ambiance. Check-in was polite, professional, and easy, with the bellman, Mohammed, being especially helpful and friendly. He was so gracious in fact, that he had chocolate covered strawberries and a fruit plate sent to our room. This was truly a wonderful surprise! Additionally, although we were facing the fire station again, there was not a problem with noise. Actually the rooms are very quiet and spacious, and the large soaking tub is particularly relaxing. The location of the hotel is well situated, making it easy to walk to the North End, Chinatown, and the Boston Common area. In addition, it is easy to hop on the T, and get to Fenway or the museums. We will definitely choose the Intercontinental again when staying in Boston.

Room Tip: This hotel is also pet friendly, for canines under 25 pounds.

Went to Boston this past weekend for a Red Sox game and stayed one night at this hotel with my 2 children and husband. We were first greeted by the bellhop, Steve, who was wonderfully infomative and patient, and worked tirelessly to get a cab for many of us who needed one to get to the Red Sox game. We should have just parked next to Fenway, as it would have been cheaper, and perhaps faster than taking a cab, which was $15 each way.

Our room was spacious, but I was disappointed that there were double beds instead of queen sized beds in the room. Besides which the mattress was very firm and uncomfortable, making for a crappy nights sleep for me. I couldn't have stayed there for another night.

Pros: It is beautiful and has all the high end amenities. It's located in the financial district and is close to many attactions including the Childrens Museum, Aquarium and Quincy Market/Faniul Hall. The front desk staff were courteous and efficient. We valet parked the car ($45 per night!)

Cons: The beds

Room Tip: We stayed in room 729.

Dear JDandkids,

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay. It is always a pleasure to hear positive feedback about our staff and I appreciate your recognition of our front door team.

I am, on the other hand, sorry to hear of your disappointment with the beds; all double rooms do have the standard size double beds as described on our booking outlets. We know that a restful night’s sleep is important and I apologize if this information was not communicated clearly prior to booking your reservation in this room type.

We appreciate your choosing InterContinental Boston and hope you will stay with us again in the future.

Sincerely,

Ian Pullan

Very good hotel, location. View from the room was very beautiful. Service was excellent.
Swiming pool, gym was also super.
Breakfast was not included. A bit expencive, but very good.
We enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: We had a corner room on the 11th floor. Two big windows of wall-size. We liked it very much.

We were worried after reading about the bathrooms opening to the beds. It did slide shut, but light shone at night and it was not soundproof. Stupid idea? The bathrooms are large (might want to bring a night light), room comfortable, staff helpful- concierge got us last minute tickets to Red Sox game and had several good suggestions. Kept our luggage until we returned for our flight. Discovered it was easier to walk to most places than take the subway. Sat outside by the water (looking at the "old" tea party boats) having drinks/coffee several nights. What turned us off was that they left a $200 incidental charge on our credit cards for"4-5 days", which wasn't discovered until my sister saw it on her card and made them take it off (neither room had extra charges).

Room Tip: Try to get a higher room away from the street noise.

The InterContinental hotel in Boston, MA is located in a great location in the city. It has easy access to the financial district, Fanueil Hall, Boston Aquarium, and the North End. South Station is about .2 miles away and a very easy walk. The hotel has well appointed rooms and a very modern lobby. The waterfront side of the hotel is very attractive and has many activities for everyone. The staff is courteous and helpful. There are 4 restaurants located inside the hotel, but I suggest that you venture out and experience other, less expensive food places. For breakfast I suggest that walk across the street and to the left of the Fire Station. For lunch talk a nice long walk to Charlestown. Have fun and enjoy everything the city of Boston has to offer!

Room Tip: Ask for a room NOT on the street side. The firestation is right across the street. King rooms are sp...

We arrived and had drinks and appetizers on the patio. Great place to people watch, and the highlight of our stay.
I still can't get over the fact that these hotels charge what they charge for the room, and still want to collect a 12.99 Internet fee. Just charge me 20$ more for the room, and pretend to give me a free Internet connection.
Location is great, but I still prefer the Marriott's on Long Warf for the things I like to explore. The Intercontinental is across from the children Museum.

Room Tip: We asked or a corner room and got it. Great floor to ceiling windows, great view.

Green Features: Besides changing sheets and towels if you ask for it, they don't seem to be doing much else. We brought bikes and had to keep them in our car, for there was no bike rack in sight. (And tip the valet every time we had to get and return the bikes, for we could not walk them to our car. Annoying.)
