“A brilliant stay, highly recommended”
Reviewed 17 September 2013

Have to say having read some reviews I was a little concerned about using this hotel for a 6 day leisure break with my wife, but this was totally unfounded. From the moment we arrived to check out we were nothing but 100% happy. We were greeted by friendly check in staff after out long day flying from Manchester via Heathrow and checked in within a few minutes. Our room overlooked the water side and the tea party attraction. There was little noise more than could be expected in any city centre hotel anywhere in the world. We did not hear the fire engines even whist watching them on a call from the club lounge which overlooked the fire station.
On the first day we used the concierge to ask about the area and local attractions. He recommended we get a trolley ticket for our first two days, which turned out to be good advice as it gave us a good appreciation of the city layout. Having read earlier reviews we were a little worried about the walk to Quincy Market and aquarium, only to find it was a 6 minute leisurely stroll along the water front and very easy to find.
The Whale watching from the harbour cruise company also comes recommended
Each of the hotel staff we met were all very friendly and courteous and could not do enough to help with all of our needs. The Club intercontinental is exceptional good and highly recommended. We actually met one of the hotel manager (Ian ? ) in the lift one day and he took the time to have a full conversation with us about our stay, without telling us his role. We mentioned how pleasant he had been only to find out later that day who he was. This friendliness was true of all staff in the hotel and the hotel had a much more of a laid back feel than other InterContinental’s we have stayed in.
We ate two meals in the hotels two restaurants which were both very good quality and reasonably priced.
How this place is not much higher rated on trip advisor I do not understand as I will recommend it to all my friends and am thinking of another stay next year.

Room Tip: Be friendly to the staff and ask for harbour view.

We came for a girl's weekend to celebrate my daughter's 13th. The location was perfect-a quick walk to shopping, the aquarium, and historic sites. It was also so easy to get to and from I93. I love that we really didn't have to drive in the city. We had dinner at Miel, and it was expensive, but fantastic! The service everywhere was amazing. The room was great-except the fact that they were double beds. I highly suggest that they go with queens the next time they renovate. There is more than enough room for larger beds. The bathroom was really beautiful, with a long, deep tub perfect for soaking. I would love to know what makes the lobby smell so good!

We had the opportunity to stay at the Intercontinental Boston this past weekend and we loved it. From the minute you walk into the lobby, you notice how chic and modern it is, but it has a warm feel as well. Everyone on the staff is so kind and are always there to help, to make sure you are happy but without being intrusive. The concierge made a reservation for us at a restaurant close by and it was exactly what we were looking for. The bar in the lobby (Rumba) was filled with people who looked like they were having a great time. Our room was spacious and beautiful and had a gorgeous view of the harbor. In the morning, we went to have breakfast upstairs and we had an incredible view of the city. I loved the coffee too! We took a walk around the hotel and the grounds are so pretty being right on the water. I will stay at the Intercontinental Boston every chance I get!

We had tickets to a Friday night Sox game and wanted to make a weekend out of it. We scored this hotel on Hotwire for an Unbelievable discount so we booked it for Friday and Saturday nights and we were not disappointed. Every staff member we encountered greeted us with a smile and an offer to assist us if needed. Our room was beautiful, large, and well appointed. I expected an obstructed or building view, but we had a street view overlooking the fire station. We were on the fourth floor, so I was worried about street noise at first, but no worries, the room was quiet. The bathroom was large with both a soaking tub and a large shower. The newspaper was available every morning (no extra charge!!). On Friday when we went out to the game it was pouring. No problem, the concierge lent us an umbrella for the night!!
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and hope to stay here again!!!

I stayed one night. It was very nice and I only had one complaint. The shower was lousy, it didn't get hot for 10 minutes and then not real hot. One towel had a big pinkish red stain on it. Seemed like poor quality control. Otherwise it was very nice

This hotel is in a great location and I suppose that's what you are paying for! No free Wifi not enough towels or coffee for 3 people and parking was a little pricey considering how much you paid for the room. We also could not get our room as cool as we would have liked. Most hotels in this price range give you bottled water in your room ,bathrobes, turn down your bed and put candy on your pillow just nice little touches which you expect in this price category.

Dear Petrea969,

We appreciate your taking the time to review InterContinental Boston; I am sorry to hear that your recent stay with us was less than perfect. Our housekeeping team is always happy to provide extra towels and coffee in your room upon request, I am sorry that there were not enough of these items in the first place. Additionally, the guest room thermostats go as low as 60 degrees and our engineering team does perform routine maintenance to ensure these are working properly. We do hope you will stay with us again in the future and thank you for your feedback.

Sincerely,

Great location, excellent view and room amenities are overshadowed by very fine service. From the desk, to bell staff, to bartenders and servers, kudos to the management team for creating a service-first culture.

Rooms are tastefully decorated and laid out in a comfortable and functional manner. The bathrooms are always stocked with thoughtful, helpful items: shoe polisher, q-tips, sewing kit, etc. TV had many premium choices, but was somewhat complicated to operate.

Conference services did a terrific job at our function, and I really noticed the little touches, such as removing trash from the tables during breaks, and replacing pens/pads. The restaurants and bars are excellent as well.

Room service was prompt, and somewhat pricey, but not as high as it could have been, striking a nice balance between convenience and cost.

Valet parking is $44/day, which is about average.
