Have to say having read some reviews I was a little concerned about using this hotel for a 6 day leisure break with my wife, but this was totally unfounded. From the moment we arrived to check out we were nothing but 100% happy. We were greeted by friendly check in staff after out long day flying from Manchester via Heathrow and checked in within a few minutes. Our room overlooked the water side and the tea party attraction. There was little noise more than could be expected in any city centre hotel anywhere in the world. We did not hear the fire engines even whist watching them on a call from the club lounge which overlooked the fire station.
On the first day we used the concierge to ask about the area and local attractions. He recommended we get a trolley ticket for our first two days, which turned out to be good advice as it gave us a good appreciation of the city layout. Having read earlier reviews we were a little worried about the walk to Quincy Market and aquarium, only to find it was a 6 minute leisurely stroll along the water front and very easy to find.
The Whale watching from the harbour cruise company also comes recommended
Each of the hotel staff we met were all very friendly and courteous and could not do enough to help with all of our needs. The Club intercontinental is exceptional good and highly recommended. We actually met one of the hotel manager (Ian ? ) in the lift one day and he took the time to have a full conversation with us about our stay, without telling us his role. We mentioned how pleasant he had been only to find out later that day who he was. This friendliness was true of all staff in the hotel and the hotel had a much more of a laid back feel than other InterContinental’s we have stayed in.
We ate two meals in the hotels two restaurants which were both very good quality and reasonably priced.
How this place is not much higher rated on trip advisor I do not understand as I will recommend it to all my friends and am thinking of another stay next year.
