Its where the "Cooking Show" is filmed, nice decor, but the food seemed to lack, 'panache?' something missing in flavor and texture, good service.

My family was staying at the hotel next door and decided to venture over to Rustic Kitchen, which also is the kitchen that does room service for the hotel. My family of four ordered vastly different items, from pizza to fried oysters to salads and pasta. Every single dish was hot, tasted yummy, and had excellent presentation on the plate. We sampled each others' dishes and agreed that this was a place we'd come back to again. The price is not inexpensive, but in this case the tastiness and quality was worth the price. And the service was attentive without hovering.

This small restaurant is wonderful. The food is ample but not excessive, and well prepared. The food is updated comfort food, enough of the basics for the fussy eaters, enough interesting items for those who are not. The vibe is relaxing -- no rushing about, low noise level, just couples and small groups enjoying good food and conversation.
It is located about two blocks from Boston Common next to the Revere hotel. This would be a great place for a romantic dinner before the theater (but give enough time to enjoy the food).
It looks like Friday night is cooking show night ( televised--really)...I'm sure you would need to reserve in advance.

I asked the valet at a nearby hotel parking garage where I could get a great burger and he recommended Rustic Kitchen. The burger was really good, the vegetables were crips, the burger was correctly cooked and it had great flavor. Vegetables included your standard bevy (lettuce tomatoes).

Two high points:
1. The burger onions were nicely sauteed red onions giving a good but not over powering flavor.
2. The pickles for the burgers were clearly craft pickles, with good tartness and sweetness.

Low point:
1. The home cut french fries were, well just normal ol' french fries.
