I spend seven nights at The Verb Hotel when attending a scientific conference at Northeastern University. I liked it very much and would come back anytime both on business trips or for other occasions.
There are a lot of things to like at the hotel, but what made it for me was the overall attention to detail (the thoughtfulness of had the idea for this hotel), and the very friendly and always helpful staff. The following examples are not meant to be selling points in themselves and are in nor way necessities, but I hope that they'll give an impression of the what the hotel is like and what mindset is behind it.
The furniture is limited to the essentials, not more, not less. I used every piece of furniture (except the TV set and the fridge) and missed none. The sofa is comfortable, even when working with a laptop. The desk is spacious and you sit on a high quality Herman Miller Setu chair. The bed is comfortable with a real duvet cover. There is a iron board and an iron.
The bathroom is spacious and the shower works really well. There is a hole cut into the glass so that one can activate the water without getting a cold shower, and take the towel without stepping out of the shower.
The hotel is themed in a sixties style and this really works out well, from a typewriter in the room to the telephone, the alarm clock, and the bathroom products whose scent evoked memories of those my grandparent used (lavender peppermint, wonderful)
Guest information is one double page of clearly presented and really useful information: a small map of the neighborhood, and a list of recommended restaurants, bars, and activities in the direct surrounding (everything I tried was very good). What I particularly liked was that there were no signs stating obvious things.
Wifi in guest rooms is free, fast, reliable. There are many free power outlets and USB-outlets (at the night stands and the desk) for cell phone tablet charging (no charger needed). Bottles of water are freely available at the reception.
The coffee served for breakfast was very good quality.
One thing that was not perfect during my stay was that housekeeping could have been more consistent in what they do.
