“Place with character and excellent food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 June 2014

We went 4 people, they did not have an outside table available so we waited about a beer's time in the bar after which they kindly showed us to an outside table carrying our drinks for us.

The waitress really knew the food they served and was very helpful in making suggestions. The food was served very well prepared and arranged it was very tasty and delicious. As the clock approached 2200 hrs we were kindly requested to have coffee and desert inside as they were not allowed to serve after that hour outside.

We had our coffee close to the stage where a band played modern jazz, it was a nice atmosphere and could still have a conversation.

All in all a good experience, thanks!

“Live Jazz! It's Cozy!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2014

I have been to The Beehive a couple of times -- Valentines Day was great. I personally think it is a great place for first dates, although it is true that the tables are smaller and the seating is very tight. The food is great but slightly expensive (you are paying for a premium product here!). Good seafood and even better wines. Girlfriend and I share a Israel red that was phenomenal. This place certainly has a cool vibe. The service is at least good, but often the server is very good and knows what he or she is doing.

“Busy crowded overpriced”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 June 2014

Big cavernous restaurant with live music in large dining room downstairs.. upstairs there is a bar with a hipster bartender. Food was good, but overall drinks and food were very expensive for what it was. $8.50 draft beer? It was OK but it's no bargain and the prices add up very quickly.

“Go for the music stay for the food.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2014

This is a very cool place. Make a reservation. We were ushered down the stairs to the clubby feel created by the music from the jazz band and the hum of the diners. The exposed brick and steel inferred a long Boston history, simple lighting effects reflected off the walls. Now the order. Our waiter was French and excellent. He worked with us and chef to arrange dairy free preparations for one of our party. A starter of calamari with peas and asparagus was terrific with the fresh bread for dipping - rich without butter.
My steak frites had unique and delicious plank cut potatoes instead of fries, crisp and juicy. Others enjoyed the Swordfish, soft-shelled crabs and lasagna. The cheesecake was also unique and exceptional. I don't throw out food compliments casually and everything I tasted here was well balanced, well prepared and above the mark. Good food. Good chef. One last item. If you like a good vodka cocktail in a martini glass. I LOVED the Queen Bee.

“Sunday Brunch recommended”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2014 via mobile

Visited here for Sunday brunch. Was very good but a little overpriced.
Menu was nice, food was good quality, drinks a bit expensive. Service was good and friendly. Had a bluegrass band on that appeared to know how to play but couldn't hear anything they said or played as the sound mix was really low and poor. Would return.
