The room had a broken frame window so it wouldn't close completely. Carpet wasn't clean. Some rubbish from previous traveler(s). Not a great location if only coming from and going to airport. No shuttle. If short in budget good price though.

Adorable boutique hotel. Comfy beds. Modern decor. Not a lot of hot water though for shower and no parking available. Had to park several blocks away on the street in a questionable neighborhood.

Myself and my husband recently stayed at The Chandler Inn when we visited Boston for a week. We were really pleased with our room, a boutique queen room on the 4th floor. It had a large and comfy bed, a massive plasma screen tv, and an ipod docking station - what more could you need?! The bathroom wasn't massive, but the shower was really spacious with consistent hot water and good water pressure. And lovely toiletries! The room was really quiet - we were never disturbed by other rooms or street noise.

There aren't a lot of amenities at the hotel, but this didn't bother us. As part of our package we received vouchers to use at local cafes for breakfast - Berkeley Perk Cafe which does great bagels, and Billy's Coffee Shop for french toast and pancakes. There is free coffee from a machine in the reception, although not tea (unless you count lemon tea, which I don't). There are lots of nice shops and restaurants nearby, and it's only a short walk to Back Bay station.

It's not the sort of hotel where you get waited on hand and foot, but if you want to stay somewhere where you can just relax and get on with exploring the city it's ideal.

My adult daughter and I stayed in the economy twin room. It was small but worked fine for us since we were out and about Boston most of the time. The bathroom door would not close completely and the chain lock on the room door did not fit properly. Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are available in the lobby. It's a great location, just 2 1/2 blocks from the subway and easy walking distance from downtown. The staff was very friendly and offerred great recommendations for places to eat. We were also given coupons for $5 toward breakfast at as choice of coffee shops around the corner. Both places were pretty good and they let us combine our coupons. There's a gay bar next door.

Excellent quaint and cozy hotel. Yes the rooms are small, as is the bathroom, but the service from the front desk to the housekeeping staff is first rate. The front desk answered all my questions thoroughly and even offered advise of what to see and where to park along with where to eat.

The hotel is in a nice suburbian area with local cafes to eat as the hotel doesn't have a restaurant. Boston isn't a cheap city for hotels, but this is one of the cheapest. The rooms are clean and relatively newly refurbished but the bathrooms are pretty basic and very small.

The street noise is VERY NOISY and you can hear every car and lorry (lots of vans and lorries as the road is quite busy). Also, every time your neighbouring room flushes the toilet or has a shower you can hear it pretty loud.

Subway is very close and an easy way to navigate the city. Copley square is within walking distance too and there's lots of good shopping there.

Overall the staff were good and it's a decent hotel.

Decent hotel rooms in Boston under $200 are next to impossible to find, so I was very pleasantly surprised with my room at the Chandler Inn. I stayed in one of the recently renovated Boutique Queen rooms. Yes the room was smaller than what you would find at the chain hotels, but it was spotless and nicely decorated, and the bathroom was all marble with a walk-in shower. The size of the room didn’t bother me since I was there alone, but it might be a tight fit for two (for instance, after showering I had to step out of the bathroom to dry off because there was no room to move around). An iPod dockable clock radio, blow dryer and a large flat-screen TV with satellite high-definition channels are the only in-room amenities. An iron and ironing board are available upon request at the front desk. There is also free coffee, tea, and cocoa available in the lobby 24 hours a day.

I found the staff to be incredibly friendly and helpful, and they were quick to share tips on what to see and do in town, as well as the best restaurants in the neighborhood (for a good breakfast that’s real easy on the wallet go around the corner to Billy’s Coffee Shop). The location is hard to beat with the Back Bay T stop/Amtrak Station just a couple of blocks away.

If you can’t survive without the pampering and amenities of a 5-star hotel, then this wouldn’t be the place for you. But if you’re looking a reasonably-priced, basic, clean room in the center of town you can’t go wrong with the Chandler Inn.
