I've stayed at the Parker house many times, but my last visit there was at least ten years ago. Like much of Boston (Locke Ober's restaurant, Filene;s, Hilltop Steak House), it has changed. If you are looking for a GREAT location, then the Parker House is for you. But you will pay a premium for it. The lobby is still gorgeous, and, like the Fairmmount in San Francisco, is probably the hotel's best attribute (though the bar is also very nice). Our room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. The rooms are definitely showing their age. We stayed in room 1004, which is large - king bed, sofa, two chairs, and a tiny "desk" that doubles as action station for the coffee maker and telephone. If you are a business traveler, and plan to work in your room, this is NOT the room for you, though, to be fair, you would have a lot of room to spread out on the floor. The bathroom is very small. Excluding the tub, my wife and I measured the dimensions as 59 x 49 inches. My wife liked the shower. There were no problems with hot water. But if you pull the shower curtain, which is opaque, you will be bathing in a very small and dark area. My boys, ages 19 and 17, stayed in room 240, which was slightly better appointed, and had a bathroom that was by no means large, but was large enough for two people to be in without one of them having to be in the bathtub. While we were not charged for the wi-fi, which I understand usually costs $10-15 per day, both my sons complained about the quality of the internet connectivity. In sum, If you are looking for great location with historical ambiance that reminds you of the 1960's, the room decor will suit you perfectly. Sure, I can imagine Joe Kennedy sitting in the chair in my room, because he probably did.

This hotel is in a perfect location and is in walking distance to everything. The hotel rate I got was very reasonable being in such a central location. Make sure you put your Air conditioning unit on to drown out the noise of any noisy neighbours. I would return to this hotel.

Omni Parker Hotel is the middle of old town Boston on the Freedom Trail making it convenient to much of Boston's history. The hotel which was originally built in 1877 has itself served as the way station for many historic figures and is worth taking the time to look into. Service is excellent even if at times quality falls a bit short of five stars. A worthwhile place to stay. No regrets and I would go again.

Staying at the Parker House is a great experience. The service was wonderful and the room beautifully appointed (even if rather small). Walking through the lobby was like going back in history - loved it.

First thing that hits you is the parking. $50 a night because it's valet only.

Hotel lobby is very impressive and grand. Also we were tad whilst on a bus tour of the city that the parker house is the oldest hotel in the US but i'm not sure if that is right.

The rooms were dated and looked old. Our room did not have a bath tub and the walls were too thin. We were kept pup late by a group in the room next door who were up late chatting and laughing away.

Also wifi is only free in the lobby.

Yes, we are the longest continuously operating hotel in the U.S. and please allow us to adjust the price you mentioned for overnight valet parking. Our fee is $39.75 per night, the lowest such fee of any downtown Boston hotel. Thank you for your feedback!
