“Best hotel I ever stayed in”
Reviewed 15 May 2014

We stayed at the Westin for 4 nights and were very pleased with the service we received. We were given a large clean room with a fabulous view and all facilities we needed. The staff were attentive and efficient - we would especially like to commend Dean Henry. There is a small coffee/snack shop attached for extras and it is connected to the Mall by a covered walkway. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: The higher the better for a good view although no rooms are below the 8th floor

Green Features: We were offered €5 per night to have no housekeeping which we accepted.

Pros:
- Great location in Back Bay - walking distance to Newbury Street, Boston Common, two malls and the convention center*
- Comfy beds
- Tasteful decor
- Clean rooms
- Plenty of power outlets
- Clean, efficient fitness center
- Friendly staff
- Unstocked refrigerator - nice if you like to fill it with your own food and drinks (from nearby Shaw's grocery store)

Cons:
- TINY pool and jacuzzi
- Limited TV channels - no HBO, no Bravo, no HGTV
- Pay for wi-fi (Why don't they just make it free and raise the room rates a little to compensate)
- Odd min-bay windows that are about 8-inches away from the min-bay windows in the neighboring rooms; what's the point unless you're planning to play a game of peek-a-boo
- Unstocked refrigerator - not so nice if you get midnight cravings for $4 M&Ms and $7 Pringles, and/or you like to drink from doll-size bottles

*The Westin is about a 15-minute walk through two malls to Hynes Convention Center, which, makes it impractical if you're a convention-goer who likes to pop in and out of your room throughout the day. If that's your style, the Sheraton is a much better bet as it's directly adjacent to the convention center.

Green Features: If you forego maid service, they'll credit you $5 toward your Starwood account. And you can reuse your towels if you're so inclined. But when I'm paying $200+ per night, I kinda expect fresh towels and a clean room.

This hotel is your typical large chain hotel, the service is ok, the pool was pleasant and it had a decent sized gym. But to give its customers what I feel a 4 star experience it needs to allow you to use wifi the rooms for free, improve pool area with sauna ect and have named toiletries. The wifi in the lobby is fairly appalling keeps dropping out and you had to find. Good spot to get it and it would take 10 minutes just to connect most times. Location wise it's fairly central more of less inside a large shopping centre and in the classier end of Boston but I just expected more for my money!!

Wow! What a lovely hotel. My mum had stayed here previously so I knew it was going to be nice. The hotel is in a great location right on copley square, very convenient for shops and restaurants. The Cheesecake Factory in the Prudential centre is a favourite of mine. Check in was quick and easy, the room was great we were in 2406 on the 24th floor, awesome view over the square and the Charles river. Beds really are HEAVENLY! As are the pillows and sheets, best bed I have ever slept in. Huge shower head in the bathroom which was great. Starbucks coffee pods in the room was a bonus and the fridge was handy as we stored some yoghurt and snacks which we picked up at the Shaws supermarket 5 mins walk away. All the staff we interacted with were very polite and helpful. A special mention is due to Frank Gallagher, no not the one from the TV show shameless! on the concierge desk, he is most charming and friendly, a mine of information. He even helped us arrange for flowers to be delivered later in the month to a friend who lives out of Boston. A great place to stay, we will return.

Room Tip: The higher the floor the better the view.

We stayed in a junior suite during the Boston marathon with 2 friends who stayed here last year. They said it was decent accommodation so we decided to go in with them on a suite.

The suite was really just a big room and nothing more. For $700usd a night I felt we were being ripped right off. Our friends said the junior suite they stayed on last year was significantly bigger so it seems there are big discrepancies between the sizes. Internet was an extra $15 a day and there was no tea making facilities only coffee. However there was a Starbucks downstairs

Staff were attentive and checked us in early. They were also great with the marathon runners, providing water and ice and managing the many people who were killing time in the lobby before their flights.

The gym facilities were excellent and the pool was nice if parents learnt how to control their children.

The location is excellent for the city with an easy walk to shops restaurants and sights.

There is an excellent little place in the mall for food. Cross over the bridge between the two buildings into the mall and there is a place on your right down a flight of stairs. There you can have breakfast or lunch for a good price and a huge selection of fresh food. (Sorry can't remember the name).

We ate at the Trattoria Newbury twice because it was so good the first time. You can't book but you can wait outside and it shouldn't take you too long. Food is simple and full of flavour and reasonably priced.

An excellent hotel very central to everything. Super convenient as we were travelling with our 20 month old. The price was quite high but on par for a westin grade hotel in a large city like boston. Our room was a water view with views of Fenway, the water etc.

Room Tip: Ask for a city/water view.

We had all been in Boston for an anniversary party and flying home late Sunday, so the Westin's location was perfect for us (also the late Sunday check-out). It took us more than a 1/2 hour to take care of valet parking and another 1/2 hour to take care of getting our 5 rooms, but then it was perfect. Some of our rooms were on the 10th floor and also (magnificent view) on the 29th. All the special amenities associated with a Westin accommodation were of course there. The only (small) problem I had was the direction arrows for the showers H and C were reversed and I realized that quickly and took care of it.

Room Tip: The way the hotel is designed, most rooms have a great Boston view. Of course, the higher floors al...
