“Blah”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

I am puzzled by reviews that rate this Hilton as one of the best. I found it to be mediocre.
The pros:(1) we were upgraded to a king suite - nice and comfortable, (2) the location - as others have described a short walk to many shops, restaurants and tourist sites, (3) John the concierge - the best aspect of the hotel. John was terrifically helpful and provided some perfect restaurant recommendations and reservations for us.
The cons: (1) no executive lounge - my first experience with a business Hilton that did not have a lounge, (2) poor selection of breakfast and even worse coffee - swamp water I suspect tastes similar, (3) with one or two exceptions (other than super John) the staff were disinterested and unfriendly - again a very unusual experience at a Hilton.
Tip: if you are staying there make your restaurant reservations through John - not only are his recommendations terrific, but the restaurant treats you as a vip with complementary appy or dessert when John makes the call.

Room Tip: high floor is quieter - suites are spacious and have kitchen, small fridge etc

Dear novascotiakate,

Thank you for staying with us and taking the time to comment. We sincerely appreciate the kind words about our excellent Lead Concierge, John. We are extremely concerned though that the entire team did not leave up to this standard. We strive to provide warm and genuinely helpful hospitality at each and every interaction--not just one or two interactions. We apologize that this wasn't your experience, and we will ensure we react to do much better.

Sincerely,
Brian Martens

Based on other reviews, asked for a corner room. King Deluxe, 8th floor, very reasonable sr citizen or AAA rate for this area of the city. Close to the wharf, Faneuil Hall and the T blue and orange lines. Very fast by subway from the airport, then taxi to the hotel, total $10 for 2.

We are on the 8th floor, it is quiet and well lit. A request to fix a lamp was addressed immediately. A couple rooms with loud guests down the hall on Fri night; I think mgmt must have addressed it because after 10:30 there was no more noise. I like having a minifridge, coffee and creamer in the room, deli across the street and very good restaurants nearby. Fast elevators. Will stay here again.

First of all, I'm a Boston Native who was returning home for a business trip. Anyway, I loved the location for this hotel - it is within walking distance and cab ride for most attractions.

The hotel restaurant was very good. The restaurant went above and beyond to serve lunch for us in the Library during an "informal business meeting"! Warning: Breakfast buffet is overpriced for the value- so I'd skip that meal at the hotel - but lunch & dinner is much better value.

Cristine at the front desk was great - accommodating every small request! I was concerned about staying close to the ice machine - but never heard a thing!

As stated, I really enjoyed my stay - but Housekeeping needs to pay more attention to details - chipped tub & sink & "hair" in the tub and around toilet - yick!

Room Tip: Request a corner room with a view - I had a slight view of the ocean. Housekeeping needs to pay a b...

It just dawned on me that I hadn't ever written a review for this property after my sister's bachelorette party last year! Last August, we had 10 girls and my family stay at the Hilton Downtown for a classy bachelorette party touring the town. Hands down, everything was so much better than I ever could have imagined! John McKinnon, Concierge, absolutely took care of everything from our transportation, where to go, tickets to shows and into bars where we were able to cut the line, chocolate covered strawberries and champagne in our absolutely stunning rooms...It was a dream from start to finish, and I absolutely could not have done it without him.

This hotel is in a fantastic part of the city, in walking distance to amazing bars, restaurants, sightseeing, etc. Their rates are more than reasonable for an upscale Boston hotel, Nix's Mate (the restaurant on site) is delicious, and with employees like John, I would recommend this hotel to absolutely anyone visiting the area! :)

Will be back!

Room Tip: Ask John :) He won't steer you wrong!

The hotel is smack dab in the middle of one of the busiest areas of Boston, which is great for dining, and seeing the sites! Everything that you could need to get into the spirit of Boston is all within walking distance, including historical sites. You never need to call a taxi or take the subway.

We were also really surprised at the size of the room. We asked for a King Suite, and the photo on the website did not do the space justice. It was more then large enough for two people. However, the furniture was quite sparse: a bed, television, and couch for a suite. There was enough room to add in a table, chairs, and another bed. It was that large! So decorating could use some work at the hotel.

But as a whole, the staff members were polite and accommodating. The hotel was in good condition. The location is what makes this spot worth while.

Room Tip: Book early and in the off-peak visiting seasons for better rates. And the King Suite is one heck of...

This hotel was perfectly located. It was a five minute walk to the aquarium and Faneil Hall. There are tons of restaurants and shops all within walking distance. They upgraded us to a suite and it was amazing. It had a huge master bedrooms with great views of the city plus an entire living room with a kitchen and dining room. My husband was traveling for work and we tagged along to tour around. There is also a Panera right around the corner if you don't want the expensive breakfast at the hotel.

Room Tip: If you can upgrade, go for the suite.

Stayed for a night. 14 floor corner room. Extremely clean. Wish the bathrooms were huge like the Fairmont on the Wharf. Nice staff. Wifi is a charge. Overnight is 45 but valet was very good. Easy walk to Quincy market and north end.
