My husband and I spent 2 nights at this wonderful little hotel for a get away. The hotel itself is in a great location. You are very close to shopping and historic sites and within a 2-3 minute walk of the subway system. There are several really nice restaurants within walking distance also. The hotel is gorgeous. Our room was on the 9th floor and, while it didn't have the best view, was really comfortable. The bed was soft and inviting and the room was over sized with very nice sitting chairs and amenities. The bathroom is very nice and plenty big. The restaurant downstairs was great for breakfast and happy hour. If you are a scotch enthusiast, they have some very rare bottles available, if you don't mind spending $600 for a glass!! The best part about the hotel is their fabulous staff. I have only stayed at one other hotel where they staff absolutely went out of their way to make sure everything was up to snuff. We were very, very impressed. I would not hesitate to stay here again!

We were recently married on Cape Cod and doing the more old-fashioned get-away after the reception. Having decided to fly out to Bermuda the day after the wedding, we knew we wanted to stay in Boston so as to have easy access to the airport. Rather than opt for a hotel full of tourists and other weddings, I thought XV Beacon might be just the calm & quiet we wanted to reconnect after a busy 48 hours of wedding fun.

From the moment we arrived, we knew we had made the perfect decision. Our car was unloaded with smiles & welcomes. The service at the front desk was flawless. The bellman knew the history of the building (impressing my very history-oriented new husband) and showed us every feature of our room to make sure we knew how everything worked.

White rose petals decorated the floor & bed....something I had only seen in movies and which brought us as much joy as the plate of chocolate covered strawberries contragulating us on our marriage.

We took advantage of the beautiful views from the roof deck before ordering room service -- which included a fantastic bottle of bubbly from the full wine list of Mooo - the best burger in town - tuna appetizer - and the chicken club. Hey, I know we had the best menu in town to order from, but honestly - we were hungry and it was fantastic! I recommend the burger to EVERYONE! The best part, with the delivery, was that they took care to not muss up the rose petals and one staff member even re-arranged it when he knocked a petal out of place. Just shows the level of attention to detail.

Our wake up call was prompt, the coffee was hot, and the driver to the airport was fantastic. The culmination of an all-too-quick, but fantastic stay.

I have recommended XV Beacon before and know my husband joins me. It is actually the perfect spot in Boston if you need one night away and are willing to splurge. It is worth every single penny to be treated with such gracious respect.

Thank you to all the staff. We will be back!

If you like beautiful, but soulless accomodations (you know it's a beautiful Four Seasons, Ritz, Mandarin, but you don't know what city your in- they almost all look alike) that are filled with wedding parties and other social gatherings moving in waves through the lobby, cookie cutter sample home furniture in the rooms, then DON'T even think of adding XV Beacon to your list.
XV Beacon makes you feel as if you are staying at your very well-to-do Aunt and Uncle's home, in Boston's very best neighborhood! You can walk just about anywhere if you can bear to leave this luxurious cocoon! The rooms are enourmous, smartly decorated with very comfortable furniture, the finest linens on dreamy beds, and more buttons, lights and switches to keep any man on cloud nine! Cleanliness is beyond reproach and the Housekeeping staff can not do enough for you to make you feel comfortable by lavishing you with soft Frette towels and actual "bars" of bespoke soap and other PC Products.
The Front Desk staff is the finest I have encountered, and is matched in it's excellence by the Concierge Staff. Just a slight mention of something in passing brings "IT" or the info to your room. The final touch is the Complimentary Lexus that ALWAYS seems to be available when needed. How often does this happen at those other hotels? Don't settle for less than the BEST!

We stayed at XV on June 23, 2012
The XV Beacon Hotel staff is superior and our concierge, Jonathan stood out as the individual we most remember for his unequaled attention to detail. He is a credit to XV and his profession.
The local transport service and on-site parking were unexpected pleasures.
The room was immaculate, the sound system more than we expected, the fireplace gave ambiance in the evening, the linens were marvelous, and room service was prompt and accurate.
The food at MOO was delicious and the service and wine collection was outstanding.
We highly recommend XV to everyone who would enjoy a stress-free visit to Boston in luxurious accommodations.

Room Tip: Higher floors have better views of the city.

Stayed here mid-June 2012. Staff was very friendly; check-in went very smooth and the room on the 7th Floor (706) is the one to ask for. Awesome city view; 1 Blk. from the start of the Freedom Trail; 1 blk from the Boston Commens Park; about 3 blks from the Cheers bar; you can walk to almost everywhere in the city from this hotel. The room had built-in speakers and a full-blown stereo system; a fireplace and six windows for a real nice city view. The hotel also has a courtesy Lexus SUV, which we used offen.

Let me begin with few positives:
1. The staff, for the most part, is fantastic. The bellmen and doormen and drivers are so nice, and the front desk staff goes out of its way to be accommodating.
2. The courtesy car IS extremely nice, and it was available several times when we needed it.
3. The location is great.

Now, let me explain what failed to live up to these other standards. When you are charging $400+ for your rooms, you have to maintain them perfectly. There were nicks and dings on all of the furniture. The paint on the mirrors was chipped, and the walls were scratched. That's just a major turnoff for me. Now, those mishaps may have occurred because the rooms are so SMALL. We had a deluxe room of some sort, and it was teensy-tiny. We could barely fit all of our luggage; plus, there was very little storage to unpack (something I always do when I stay for more than 3 nights). Additionally, we felt pretty inconvenienced when both elevators went out one night, and we had to walk up the 8 flights of stairs to our room. Thankfully, we're pretty athletic and young, so it didn't inconvenience us too terribly. Finally, we felt that the evening concierge was lacking, but the hotel has already done its best to fix this problem, so I won't go into detail - especially since the female concierges in the morning were so excellent.

Next week, we'll be trying out another hotel in Boston, and we'll definitely write a review. Perhaps I am being too choosy, but we stay in great hotels all over the world. I feel qualified to pick a bone or two.
