I feel like you've slipped a bit- I've been coming to the XV for years, but this stay was just underwhelming. It doesn't fit the rate, your services are a 5 at best, and you charge an 8, or 9.

1. Concierge seemed beyond her capacity to be accommodating and effective in her role. Was told "sorry", the house car "doesn't go that far". I'm sure Lexus makes cars that can travel well, and still make it to Boston University from Beacon street.

2. Bell staff member came to drop off our suitcase, and entered the room without knocking first, while my wife and I were in it. Creepy, and alarming. Oh, hello? Care to knock first? At least introduce yourself..

3. You used to offer a turndown, with a chocolate, or a cookie or something- This visit, nothing, no turndown even.

4. You used to offer a newspaper. Now, nothing, Desk staff mentioned something about an online version of the NY Times as we left. Too little, too late.

5. You seem to have a very young staff- Are there any adults working at the XV these days?

6. Room service staff was young, and didn't need to place the table directly next to bed with my wife in it. Never asked to enter the room- Boundaries are love, people.

Any of these alone is a minor complaint, but taken together, the bloom has come off the XV Beacon a bit. There are newer places, other places, It's unfortunate, you were the go-to, never wavering, and now have joined the herd. Welcome back to the median.

We stayed one night in this hotel in the heart of Beacon Hill. I was swayed by the reviews and opted to stay here instead of the Four Seasons. We liked it...but did not love it. The room was on the small side, as was the bathroom. The room's air conditioning was locked into a number and reverted back to the preset temperature...which was a bit irritating.

The location is great for shopping, the historical area, etc.

We did enjoy using the hotel's car to take us to the concert we were in town to see. That is always a perk.

There is a wonderful restaurant next door that capped off the trip in a great way.

Room Tip: It is a boutique hotel, so all rooms are similar.

Can't beat the location of this small "boutique" hotel just steps from the Shaw Memorial, Massachusetts State House, and Freedom Trail. However, during our stay, the hotel was filled with businessmen not tourists. The hotel's free limo service was most appreciated (tho' pre-book the limo with the concierge a.s.a.p. to ensure it's available!) Front-desk (most notably Dustin Leighton) made our stay most pleasant. Our room, tho' an upgrade, was smallish. The a/c was extremely noisy (we found this to be true with other hotels we stayed at on the east coast). The hotel's adjoining restaurant (apparently unassociated with hotel) had loud disco-era music continuously, even at breakfast, making it almost impossible to have a conversation. Breakfast was abundant and very good. Dinner just eh.

Room Tip: a room facing Beacon Street

We came to Boston unexpectedly to visit a friend in the hospital. It was a huge weekend in Boston between sporting events, the high tourist season, etc. A family member of the friend in hospital booked us a room at XV Beacon. The room (#1001) was cramped and poorly laid out. Outlets were hard to reach, very inconveniently located, and some did not work. The lighting in the room was inadequate and hard to figure out. The wireless was agonizingly slow. The thermostat in the room didn't work and needed replacing. A chair blocked the minibar and the room was so small, there was not place to move the chair to. The bed was very comfortable, but had the peculiarity of being a four-poster; it made the small room seem even smaller and more cluttered. It's a fine location, near Boston Common, but one of the least luxurious "luxury" hotels ever. NOT worth the money!

Room Tip: Our room overlooked a depressing building and had minimally cared-for window boxes. Perhaps the one...

15 Beacon is an immaculate, well-appointed modern boutique hotel. The staff is very professional and helpful. The rooms are large and boast up to date technology for iPhones and bluray needs. Your music can even be pumped into the bathroom if you like.

The self-igniting fire place is a nice touch and can be made into a romantic centerpiece.

The beds are semi-firm, as are the pillows. And the bathroom has an overhead shower head and a jacuzzi bath option. Nice make up mirror for the ladies too.

Overall this is a top-shelf boutique hotel that is centrally located to Boston's best sights. You will pay to stay here, but should not be disappointed.

In an excellent location perched on the hill overlooking the common - it was a beautiful neighbourhood showcasing the historical significance and understated grandeur of this great city. We stayed with our 2 boys 4 nights in a corner suite on the 8th floor. Tastefully decorated with quality furnishings - it felt like your own home once inside. The rroms were not oversized but extremely comfortable. One thing I must highlight was the mini-bar and the restaurant wine list. If you take your wine seriously this is a must stay. I understand the wine list is award winning and it was need impressive and we enjoyed sampling some of it.

We found the staff to be very friendly, obliging and it really had that boutique feel and intimacy where staff took ownership of the service and ensuring our experience was memorable and tailored to what we wanted.

We really liked the Mooo restaurant dining there every day for breakfast and 3 dinners. Food, service was excellent, drawing on seasonal ingredients executed with local flair and very generous servings.

Overall would highly recommend - the location was so easy and in a very attractive locale. Would lob to return in autumn to see the colours and sit by the open fire.

Room Tip: Choose a room overlooking beacon. Corner suite had an excellent aspect.

The XV Beacon is a perfectly located, well appointed, beauty of a hotel. I have stayed in a variety of Boston's great hotels but I think I have found my favorite.

The staff are superb; they are well educated, friendly, and offer you very personalized service. For example, my teenage son wanted to play basketball at the nearest, outdoor, public court (not your average request). Done, the driver whisked him off to a b.ball court in the North End. I, on the other hand, wanted as many bath salts by the tub as possible. Done. It can be the small touches that make the big differences in feeling pampered. The attitude at the hotel is definitely about taking care of you and trying to make things work for you.

The doorman are old school; I love that. They offer lots of info and "scoop" you do not find in guidebooks and online. The XV Beacon name also seems to have "pull" at restaurants that are otherwise booked or have long waits. I experienced a ten minute wait for a table at Stephanie's on Newbury, as opposed to the hour wait, because I told the hostess that the concierge at the XV Beacon sent me over even though we didn't have a reservation. I must admit, I loved that momentary VIP feeling.

Bottom line, I plan on returning and will be recommending to friends.
