I considered trading in the room or reporting a complaint; this was for the first hour, where I had a scarf over my nose to muffle the smell. Then I discovered I could open the windows, and aired everything out! Slept with the window open; heating was very good.

Best value in downtown Boston. Great "Boutique" Hotel VERY close to everything in the downtown core. Many Irish pubs with in a few blocks. Only drawback is no one answered inquiry via website so had to call with questions. Best downtown parking rate we could find.

I recently stayed here with a friend for 3 nights. The lobby was beautiful, with computers and printers for guest use as well as 24/7 free coffee and tea. The room was good size with a small table and chairs. HDTV, surround sound, small fridge and safe. We got an atrium view room which took a little getting used to, but I was thankful because it was SO quiet at night. If you want to check the weather, turn on the TV.
The staff was very friendly and the only issue we had was that housekeeping only left 1 towel on the first morning (the reservation was made for 2) but it was quickly rectified and we had no other issues.
The location is awesome. The Aquarium T stop is directly outside the door, there is a 24 hour convenience store 2 doors down, and attractions like the Aquarium, Faneuil Hall, Quincy Market and the Black Rose are steps away.
We parked in a parking garage and either walked or took the T everywhere we needed to go. Great location, great service, great hotel.

Room Tip: If you're a light sleeper, ask for an atrium view room.

Recently stayed for a weekend. The highlight of this hotel is the location. It's extremely easy to get to if you're driving into Boston. There is a blue line T stop right outside, and an Orange line stop 2 minutes up State Street. Quincy Market and Fanueil Hall are 3 minutes away walking. There are unlimited pubs and restaurants all around this area. (GoodBar is next door to the hotel and has $1 Bud and Bud Light drafts, but can get a little college-y and rowdy.) The TD Garden is a 12 minute walk. The harbor and aquarium are 5 minutes away. Really, the location is perfect.

The hotel itself is nice enough. The rooms were adequate, but nothing special. Clean and spacious. We stayed in a city view room, with a limited view of the square next to the harbor. There really isn't much more to say about it; it was an average hotel room.

The staff does seem a little disinterested as some other reviews have mentioned, but they were able to give us some assistance when needed.

Overall, GREAT location, great value and a fun weekend.

We spent 2 nights here recently. Loved the location as we could walk to so many attractions. Amazed to walk out the door and look at the Old State House and the Marriott Custom House. Had lunch at Durgin Park and strolled though Faneuil Hall for supper. Starbucks and Dunkin close. It was so quiet there that I wondered if we were the only guests. We had an atrium room with a king bed which was very comfortable. Refrigerator in room. Missed opening the drapes and checking out the weather but....everything else was great. The staff were all so nice and professional......no complaints at all. Hope to return in the spring.

This was our second stay at the Harborside Inn and we will definitely be back.

In Nov 2011 we stayed in an 'Interior Skylit Atrium View' room.
In Nov 2012 we decided to pay extra and stay in a 'Cityscape Outdoor View' room....HOWEVER,despite,the heavy, dark, wooden binds, the room was quite bright (morning) and noisy- due to the busy road nearby- so we will choose an interior room next time.

On both occassions the rooms have been spacious, clean and warm ( although on reflection the interior room probably did seemed warmer )

The hotel has a small foyer/ reception area. There are a few computers -with printers, in the foyer with complimentary internet access & printing ( there is also free wifi in the rooms) as well as complimentary coffee ( although this may be just in the morning ??)

The Aquarium 'T' is IMMEDIATELY outside the hotel. There is a bar next door and a '7eleven' two doors away.Fanueil Hall & Quincy Market is 1 minute walk away. The harbour is a 2 minute walk in one direction and 'Old South Meeting House' is 2 minutes walk in the opposite direction.
The shops at Downtown Crossing are a few minutes (3-4 ?) walk away, and Newbury Street, and all the shops at Prudential Centre are an easy 10 - 15 minute walk away.

There are plenty of sports bars ( to park the non-shopping,bored men at) within a two minute walk of the hotel, as well as restaurants, the harbour and the theatre district ( maybe a 5 minute walk away ?) BTW...TD Garden is a 15 minute walk away - and from our experience it is quicker to walk than to take a taxi.

If you're looking for a 'fancy' hotel, with a large lobby where you can people watch etc , this is probably NOT the hotel for you, but if you want a warm comfortable 'boutique' hotel, beside a 'T' stop, in a central location for shopping/sights and the financial district, then this is definitely worth considering.

Room Tip: next time we will opt for a KING 'Interior Skylit Atrium View' because they are quieter and...

I spent one night here and it was fine for what I needed. The room was neat and clean with a good flat panel TV with loads of cable channels, even HBO. The bed was a little soft for my taste. The biggest drawback was the lack of an on site restaurant, but there are plenty of places to eat close by.

Room Tip: Ask for a street side room.
