“Nice rooms and views, not happy with Internet”
Reviewed 1 August 2014

The room was nice with excellent location and great views. The top of the roof terrace & pool was fun. Hotel parking was straightforward and easy. The beds were comfortable. However, we are unlikely to return to the Colonnade because of the hassle with the Internet. As a family of four, each of us has their own smartphone and tablet and my husband and I carry laptop computers. That makes 10 devices in total. For $13 per day, you could connect 3 separate devices to the hotel WiFi. As we did not want to pay 3*$13, we only bought one connection, which left everyone unhappy. From my perspective, feel free to remove the in-room video entertainment, but give me free WiFi access so that my kids can watch Netflix on the iPad. Today, paying $300 per night for a room makes you assume that Internet is a hygiene factor.

My son and I went to Boston for some baseball and spent four nights at the Colonnade. Check in was smooth. We were advised that the Internet fees would be waved and they were. I really liked the rooms- super comfortable beds and nice big bathroom with a strong shower. We ventured up to the rooftop pool once- great spot to relax and take a dip if you're so inclined. The only negative I have concerns the pool- $8 for a Bud Light? C'mon.. we got gouged at Fenway Park on the suds and here as well? Getting back to the positive, kudos go out to the two concierges we dealt with, Brittney and Danny. They couldn't have been more helpful and friendly- Danny arranged our outing on the Trolley tour and both answered all my numerous questions. Also, the very friendly bellhop, Norman. As pointed out by others, the Colonnade's location is fantastic, within walking distance of Fenway Park ( 15 - 20 minutes) in one direction and Boston Common ( 20 minutes) and many other points of interest going the other other way... Also there were numerous great places to eat. I had breakfast at Thorntons ( 2 minute walk ) every morning I was there.

Great location, big rooms, friendly staff & pet friendly too, with the best rooftop pool I've seen in a while. A sure choice when visiting boston especially in summer. I don't have much else to say but 38 characters to go. Tripadvisor why at least 200? Lol

Our visit started with a fake smiling, no interest receptionist and then a porter who ignored us as we stood right in front of him. He then walked off! It was always going to end badly.

Rooms are a good size but, like the rest of the hotel, need to get into the 21st century. It's old fashioned so if you like that type of fusty styling you'll be happy.

They have the old AC in the room that sounds like its going to take off. It makes the room shake. What else? Ripped curtains, door with gaps around (=noise) and a not properly cleaned bathroom.

You have to PAY for internet - what?! Didn't think that happens anymore.

Bad, bad and more bad. Stupidly we prepaid otherwise we would have left.

When me and my friend arrived we had to sleep together on an uncomfortable sofa bed. Because of this we got an upgrade. In the new room the floor was wet. After notifying them we got a floor drying machine in the room which made a horrible noise for 3 days.

At the restaurant by the pool I asked if someone would come up to our table to take the order. I was told that someone was going to be right with us. We waited for a while before going back asking again if someone could please take our order. 10 minutes later we got the menus. 55 seconds later they asked if we knew what to order. The breakfast took another 40 minutes before arriving.

In general the staff were not very friendly and did not smile or greet us as we came and left the building.

I let the hotel know about this as the stay progressed and when we left they promised to take 151 dollars off our final bill for the 10 days we stayed. When I arrived home to look at my bank statement this promise was not kept and I have paid the whole amount. Not impressed at all. Considering the price, this hotel is not worth the money. Recommend going elsewhere.

As a family of six we booked two rooms for two nights. Very clean, modern hotel. Roof top pool was unique and welcome after a busy day of sightseeing. Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, including Paulina on Reception and Brittany at the Concierge desk. Great location for baseball at Fenway Park. Did not eat in the hotel but had breakfast at a great popular Boston diner, about five minutes away, called Thorntons. Would return.

Room Tip: We stayed on the road side and it was very quiet.

Stayed from Wednesday-Friday in late July. The location is outstanding: right across from the Prudential Center, walking distance to Fenway or the Common, a T station right outside the front door. All staff we encountered were smiling and exceptionally courteous. The room itself was clean, well appointed, modern and sleek, with user-friendly climate control. The bathroom was quite elegant, and featured a phenomenal, high-powered shower head. At 4PM on the afternoon we arrived it was 95 degrees outside, yet there were still chairs available at the roofdeck pool. The pool is outstanding--comfortable furniture, plush towels, friendly service, and a full bar. If you're visiting Boston in summer, I would consider the pool a difference maker! The price was superior to that of other similar back bay hotels. Overall outstanding experience.
