Hotel Buckminster. Great Location! Especially going to a Red Sox game. Easy access to subway system, My room was very nice, clean and somewhat modern. Room drawbacks are outdated TV and not enough area for toilterties in the the bathroom. Staff was Great!! The Resturant was very good! The staff was Great! Overall I would recommend Hotel Buckminster to anyone visiting then Boston area!!!

Room Tip: Ask to stay away from the highway, it will be a lot quitter!

Your experience with this wonderful will start off by be greeted with the friendliest staff you could ask for. They will quickly check you in and explain clearly everything you will need to know. Our room very ready ahead of time. We have stayed here before, and the room is always fresh and clean. The rooms are quiet. You would never guess you are in the middle of a busy city. The beds are very comfortable. An added benefit is that there is a very nice restaurant across from the lobby that serves tasty food for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Room Tip: I rated swimming pool excellent, because I did not have the option to put that there was no pool.

Good: The Bed – its saving grace, the only reason I rate this higher than my instinct was because we both got a great night’s sleep despite proximity to the road and rail and although no game on, Fenway Park baseball stadium. Bathroom in our junior King suite was spotlessly clean, couldn’t fault that. Air-con was robust and worked responsively – a rarity in some hotels. Front of house were kindly and helpful. Generous food vouchers to eat on site at the Fenway Grill came with the room key. The ‘T’ is only a very short stroll away and handy for getting down town – to get back to hotel, take any green line train back except trains for Heath as they branch off too early. Great location for Red Sox games and there’s a 7 -11, and burger bar within a few feet of the front of the hotel. Most Taxi drivers know it. Personal safe in room with own code and great iron and ironing board. Walking – straight line along Beacon Street into town, straight line back – idiot proof. Fairly safe location though Beacon street west of Mass Ave is noticeably less well healed with the odd beggar outside the 7-11 but spare a buck or two and they’ll look out for you. Symphony Hall is a comfortable 20/25 minute walk away. A bit of Boston history comes with the hotel with the first networked radio broadcast from here and a sweet marble lobby with plenty of tourist literature and vending machines makes a reasonable impression. Fridge and microwave in room.
Not so good: tea and coffee facilities completely absent – not a good idea to deprive a Brit of tea – serious fault! Room was tired, oh so tired, and cheap brown furniture scuffed and depressing, carpets also need up dating. Sofa bed was basically sitting on springs with a bit of fabric over them. Tiny lift/ elevator serving six floors and so cronky it didn’t inspire confidence even if it has passed safety inspections. Shower OK bath not because wife had to keep foot on plug to stop water draining away. Worst of all was the price, much too much for what you get having stayed at a rival hotel for less money with ultra-modern facilities and closer to the financial district and that’s why I think the price was cheeky.
Overall, I wouldn’t chose to come back except for that bed…boy, did I sleep well!

We booked the Boston Hotel Buckminster for four nights. We chose a "Junior King Suite," because we wanted to have room to spread out during our stay.

The Junior King Suite was, indeed, very roomy--at least as large as a small one-bedroom apartment. It came with a microwave oven, small refrigerator, dining table, and three chairs. However, there were no plates or cutlery, and the only glasses in the whole place were the two soft plastic cups in the bathroom. Also, there was no kettle and no coffee-maker. So, while we occasionally brought in take-out food, the suite would not be at all ideal for those who hope to prepare their own meals.

The bathroom was adequate. Oddly, to reach it you had to go up up three stairs, with a wrought-iron railing beside the stairs. There was no place in the bathroom to put anything down, just a tiny glass shelf beside the sink. So we had to store all our toiletries in the bedroom, and carry them in and out any time we wanted to brush teeth, etc.

The bedroom had a desk and chair, but no desklamp at all. So, when I wanted to work at my computer, I used the dining table in the livingroom.

The main drawback to the place was that the bedroom faced directly toward the freeway that runs through the city and Fenway Park on the other side of it. During the baseball games (three while we were there), there were extremely bright field lights which shone right into our room. Our bedroom window had only blinds. Under the circumstances, it is inexplicable that the room did not have blackout curtains. In addition, the noise from the freeway was VERY loud, and of course it never ended, just slowed down a bit on Sunday.

Also, the heating/cooling system in our suite was very slow to react. If you wanted to raise or lower the temperature, you had to be prepared to wait a few hours before you noticed a change in temperature.

On the positive side, the staff were very responsive to requests for help, and gave us good advice about restaurants. One evening the hot water disappeared from our bathroom, and that problem was dealt with fairly quickly.

The hotel is well located for those who like baseball. We chose it because of its proximity to Boston University. It is also a short walk to the Kenmore T station.

However, this hotel is not cheap, and I think it should provide better amenities.

Room Tip: If you don't like noise, try to get a room that does not face Fenway Park and the freeway.

Buckminster is a good hotel in Boston -- given the location and money's worth. This is my second visit to the hotel, and the rooms are OK, great location to Charles river for running (if you are into that kind of stuff), and good connections throughout Boston by the green T and buses. Very close to Fenway Park, and the area around Kenmore Square is pleasantly crowded when there is a game on. I noticed that this time there is the new Grill on ground floor where I tried both breakfast and dinner -- both reasonable priced and good!

The Boston Hotel Buckminster is in an ideal location. It is within walking distance to the famous Fenway Park especially if you are a Boston Red Sox fan! We had the Fenway Park view from our room and we could watch all the people walking on game day. Parking is a very limited in the area so being this close to the park is a big advantage. We were not here just for the game but also for a college graduation. Hotel Buckminster is close to everything. You can catch the T lines from Kenmore Square to any given location and there are a lot of fast food choices for your convenience. The hotel and cleaning staff were very friendly and accommodating. Free internet access and the use of their business center for printing airline boarding passes are a plus also.

Room Tip: Ask for the Fenway Park view. You won't be disappointed.

We have stayed at other places when visiting Fenway and they are nice. But, we will make this our regular hotel fr now on. It's sooooo close and it's a great hotel. Lots of history here. Worth the price. Friendly staff. Book ahead for a better rate.
