Adjectives don't do this area justice. All I can say is go here, enjoy it, appreciate the beauty and don't pollute or litter. Float, canoe, fish and relax. Look for Hawk and Eagle. Abundant wild life, Elk can be seen nearby. ( sometimes ) we only have a population of 2500 give or take and they are magnificent to behold plus they taste dang good! Anyway, go to one of the local outfitters and rent a canoe. They will pick you up and return you to your vehicle whether it's a day trip or overnight camping. This is a great area of Arkansas and once you come here you will always return.

As a resident, I can enjoy the BNR at will & am most familiar with the upper Buffalo. Canoe floating is seasonal(or rain), but Ponca AR is a great place to start an adventure. The trail hike @ Lost Valley is exceptional as is Whitaker Point (Hawksbill Crag). Detour to Steel Creek on Hwy 74. Great elk viewing, esp in the fall & the Elk Center is informational. Jasper AR is another good point to start. Be sure & stop @ the Ozark Café. You will not regret a weekend in God's country.

We live 10 minutes from here. Great for floating! Whether it's just your body, a tube, a kayak or canoe. Breathtaking scenery

We canoed from Steel Creek to Kyle's Landing. It was a scenic trip the whole way. There are some minor rapids but still fine for beginners. There is also a trail you can hike right from the river to see a waterfall. It was one of the best ways I can think of to spend the day. I just wish my camera's battery hadn't died!

The river and surrounding Ozark mountains are very beautiful. A great place to see scenic nature. So quite along the river bank you can almost here the banjos.
