“Lovely hotel and brilliant staff.”
Reviewed 29 August 2011

This was our final hotel of a three week trip and it was excellent.

When we first arrived, it seem a long way from how we had read the reviews but in San Diego, everywhere is a bit further away than it seems and this is very central for everything.

Front desk were very helpful and we liked the extra towels and choice of pillows.
Jim, who runs the bar was a real star and worth having a chat to him for suggestions of places to go.

Lived up to its excellent reviews and thanks for a lovely few days.

Just back from a week stay at the Courtyard Marriot San Diego LIberty Station. This was an altogether pleasant experience from beginning to end. The staff, from the front desk to the restaurant, deli and housekeeping were excellent. They were consistently friendly, polite and very helpful in regards to remedying a tiny concern we had. (missing sofa chair in our room). The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable.
In terms of location the hotel is near the airport, however, if you know San Diego this is not far from the city at all and also very close to Old Town. We had a car so the ample free parking at the hotel was a bonus. As parking in the city can be tricky we did cab it one night at a price of 16 dollars each direction. Parking at Old Town in the various San Diego State Park parking lots (free) or on the street never gave us a problem. I personally would be more than happy to stay at this hotel again and expect I very likely will in the not too distant future. Great stay!

Beautiful new hotel. The outdoor living room is awesome as well as the fire pit. The rooms are nicely decorated and breakfast is delicious. Not cheap, but at least you are getting your money's worth with atmosphere and cleanliness. Wish we had a better view, we had a view of a back parking lot.

Room Tip: Room 160 has a view of a back parking lot.

Unfortunately this place is sold out a lot but I can see why.
I was able to book a stay here after escaping the disastrous Residence Inn Mission Valley and very happy I did.
Granted, you get a small fridge and you have to request a microwave but with it being walking (crawling) distance to pubs and other eateries, I enjoyed the stay.

Room Tip: In the back, pool or harbor view

Stayed here and used airport shuttle to catch 7am flight. Seems very new, with rooms very nice and clean exceeding typical Courtyard standards. Bar was nice, with a few good San Diego area beers on tap. Service was very good. I ditched my rental car in the afternoon and the hotel shuttle was willing to come pick me up. Since I was alone on foot the rest of the day they also offered to drive me out to a nearby restaurant. The location has a few places to walk to nearby, but it's a bit isolated due to the Navy bases nearby and their very tall fences. So, there's nothing wrong with the hotel, but based on location I have to say that I'd only stay here to make an early flight departure more convenient.

I picked this hotel solely based upon trip advisor reviews and I'm sorry I did. I don't know what type of hotel the other reviewers are used to staying, but unless your thing is small rooms, hard beds, rough sheets, thin towels and loud a/c's then this hotel is not for you. Also we went out all day to come back to uncleaned room. The only good thing about this hotel is location, but Homewood Suites is next door and looks nicer and with bigger rooms I would recommend that hotel for the area instead.
