We stayed in a King room for one night. Rooms were clean and decor was tasteful. What was really nice was that the king bed was actually parallel to the door (against the other side of the bathroom wall) facing the window. There wasn't much of a view on the bottom floor, but it was nice to wake up with your feet facing the sunlit window. We didn't hear the planes but we did hear excess noise from outside the door, mainly when people passed by. It didn't bother us but it some others might not be as tolerant to the noise. The computer business center was convenient to use and print out boarding passes. The location is great with the airport and Shelter Island within a 5 minute drive, and Cabrillo Monument, Ocean Beach and Mission Bay (Sea World) about 10-20 minutes away. I would suggest exploring the Liberty Station for your convenient needs like grocery stores, restaurants and shops. Finally I'm not sure if I could mention names so I'll keep it general... If you're looking for a great Sunday Morning brunch, there is a hawaiian style restaurant on Shelter Island that offers a great champagne brunch. Enjoy San Diego!

Room Tip: If you forgot it, they have free toothbrushes and toothpastes at the front desk.

Stayed for three nights for a long weekend, as promised by tp reviewers the place was well kept and more than the usual courtyard. We paid for the water view room 231 however much as others wrote at least from that room you can definitely hear the planes take off etc. It was not a problem for us as it does stop by midnight and doesn't resume until 6am, we were on east coast time so we adjusted well. However if you are a light sleeper the parking lot side might be a better choice. The room although small was a nice set up with a mini sofa and tables. The keurig maker was a really nice touch. We did do the breakfast buffet two mornings and it was excellent. We also ended up having a light supper the last night there and it was very delicious. I was impressed as most chain hotels have mediocre food. The front desk though is very helpful with restaurant recommendations and they were excellent ones. The outdoor faciiities are nice and we had a very large patio with our room. It is very easy to get to places from the Courtyard and we had thought of staying at the Coronado and we were glad we stayed at the courtyard instead. If it was summer and we were there longer I might have a different view. I would have given the courtyard a 5 star except for the noise.

Room Tip: ask for a room not facing the airport if you are a light sleeper

This hotel does a great job of providing a clean, functional place to stay, which is easily accessible to anywhere in SanDiego at a fraction of the price of other hotels with similar accommodation.
Located less than 2 miles from the airport, yet surprisingly quiet, there is free internet and parking. The hotel has a restaurant and a snack bar as well as a tiny pantry where you can purchase food/beverages if you need them inbetween restaurant hours. The pool is quite nice. There are exercise machines and a lovely walking path along the canal right outside the patio area. There is a bar as well and conference facilities (large enough for reasonable sized meetings).
The rooms are very nicely decorated and furnished. Everything you need to be comfortable, whether it is for one night or several, is there.
THere are multiple restaurants (including subway) at the other end of the parking lot, and several blocks away, a fairly large mall with a grocery store.
The front desk staff were very friendly. The entire building was clean and smelled nice.
You can be on several major highways in a couple of minutes and right downtown in about 4 minutes drive.
This place is inexpensive and as hotels go, excellent. Don't bother with somewhere else that will cost you double the money. This hotel is terrific.

Room Tip: Overlook the canal

What more to say? The view is excellent and the location is perfectly placed near sunset cliffs, the zoo, sea world, mission beach and just about everything else you'll want to see. The room was well designed, the grounds were well kept, and I was very pleased with the entire experience. You can't beat the price for what you get.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the water have great views.

The location is convenient, close to the Navy base and airport. Hotel did not recognize my platinum status and ignored my profile. Frequent travelers might like the property next door (Homewood Suites), though same owners, better.

My wife and I had a nice three night stay at the Liberty Station Courtyard. It is located on the grounds of the old naval training base, right off of Harbor Blvd and near the airport. Because of the way that the main runway is aligned, we never had any problems with noise from take-off and landings at the airport, just a little from the room next door, but no more that you would expect from most hotels. The location made it very easy to access all parts of San Diego, Harbor and Shelter Islands, downtown, Balboa Park and the zoo and Mission Bay. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. Due to it's location there seemed to be many reunions of older naval commands taking place and also a wedding but none of the events made for a rowdy or unpleasant situation. I would recommend this hotel and location for any trip to the San Diego area.
